Upon reading it, I forgot to turn off Auto Picture mode. So I did just that, and while I'm still keeping a lookout on the 24p Output for movies, so far, it doesn't SEEM like the slight motion smoothing is there. I rather not set any motion option to enabled in any capacity if I could help it. Especially since the TV has one HDMI leading to a Denon AVR which connects to multiple HDMIs. |

Yeah maybe that fixed it, I guess leaving motionflow off would work as well but True cimema is not supposed to add any motion smoothing or whatever you call it.

Turning on TrueCinema is NOT turning on motion enhancer, it turns on the capability of the panel to display 24 fps as-is.

The Sony UBP-X700 has all of the features that I'm looking for* and a region-free version is avilable for an affordable price ($309) on 220 Electronics (price is an important factor for me), but I've seen some people complain on Amazon that it's buggy or glitchy. To anyone here who has used one, do you think it would be a good option for me, or too risky?
* I'm looking for a player that can do all of the following: 1. Play 4K discs, Blu-rays, DVDs, and CDs. 2. Play video, audio, and photo files on burned Blu-ray, DVD, and CD discs, USB flash drives, and ideally (although optionally) through DLNA as well. 3. Play videos (including 4K ones) in MKV, MP4, AVI, MPG/MPEG, and TS formats, and support VP9 and HEVC codecs and the 60fps framerate. |

I know this probably has been discussed before but I just got this player and I remember reading somewhere that you have to manually change dolby vision or something like that to enable it. I activated Dolby Vision on the player and have been trying different discs.... even when I’m putting a non DV disc, my tv shows a DV logo on the upper corner. Should I deactivate DV when a movie doesn’t support it or just leave it on? Does it affect a non DV compatible movie? (i.e. does it make it look worse?)

Thank you. Does it affect negatively content that’s not DV compatible? Like, make colors weird or look darker or stuff like that?

I recently got the Sony UPB-X700. It works fine except when I pause and resume playback, the sound cuts out for abut 5 seconds and then comes in again. This happens 100% of the time, and only with this player I have 2 other players connected to the same TV and they do not have this problem.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to fix it? |

To anyone who has had both a UBP-X700 and a UBP-X800M2, which do you think is better and why?
Also, is it true that the UBP-X800M2 is better at upscaling DVDs? And do either or both players feature the ability to turn upscaling off and let the television handle upscaling? I've read that the UBP-X800M2 has a heatsink to keep it cool. Does this offer a major advantage over the UBP-X700? |

I’ve had this player for a few months and it sometimes has a freezing issue when watching 4K discs. It doesn’t happen with every one but when it does it’s really annoying, the disc has to be stopped and then I can play it again. The first Wonder Woman 4K was so bad about 1hr in that eventually we gave up and finished the film watching the blu ray. I’ve heard Warner Bros discs are the worst for this, I’ve tried all the settings I’ve seen suggested elsewhere as well as lifting the player on rubber feet to help keep it cool. I’m close to returning it for a replacement, does anyone have this player and not suffer this issue or should I just try a completely different player?

Does it have any other problems besides freezing on 4K discs?
Also, are you familiar with the Sony UBP-X800M2? If so, what are your thoughts on it? I ask because these two models are the only two 4K players that I know of that have all of the features that I'm looking for (especially support of certain formats to be played off of a USB drive). |

Do you have any experience with the Panasonic DP-UB420? It is affordable and seems to have most of what I'm looking for, except for support for one codec (VP9). Also, out of the under-$500 options on the page linked below, which if any would you recommend? https://www.220-electronics.com/regi...st_order=price Last edited by hbenthow; 03-27-2021 at 12:03 AM. |

Because 4Ks are suppose to be region free I think it is better to get an unmodified 4K player and then get a separate player that can play standard blu-rays in the region you want (or a region free $99 one from that site). You could get the 820 for $400 on sale now from Best Buy and get another 1080p blu-ray player all for less than $500.

I have a both a Sony UBP X700 region free and region locked (region A) player. I've had the region locked player (bought from Amazon) for years and bought the region free one a few months ago. I've never had any problems with either player. The region free version was purchased from 220 electronics and they give a pretty decent guarantee on anything they sell, including maintenance and/or replacement. This is just my personal experience of course, but I would recommend this player for the price.
