For the life of me I can't understand why folks can't understand that they are limiting their viewing by watching strictly BD's?
because being the winner in a hot dog eating competition does not make one a food lover it is the guy who looks for choice foods prepared the way they where meant to be eaten and savours every bite that is one. Why would I limit myself to watching some crap when I can limit myself to watch any movie I want on any display I want at the quality I want?

Actually, the OP quoted this:

And the streaming talk has been...well...streaming ever since.

Are you suggesting movies are meant to be watched at home?

100' might be big for a tv but isn't it kind of, I don't know...itsy bitsy when it comes to how films are meant to be watched?

If you're wondering what my point might be it's this: you're obviously just as willing to compromise as anybody else. Where you draw your lines is no more or less objectively right than where others might draw theirs.

I think 100' would be big for any screen

On the other hand not all theatres have the same size screens, my HT is not built for a few hundred people the ratios are all there to THX specs.

This will be my final post in this thread because I'm sick of poor reading comprehension. If I was going to address my inaccuracy, I would have. You tacitly implied that I would change my mind in the future abotu buying huge displays. I have no desire to and I think it's a massive waste of funds, both of which were said in the post you quoted.

Since this thread has descended into a lot of pointless name-calling, I'm unsubscribing.

but you are not future you, are you, how can you know how your mid will change in the future? I just gave a counter example, of a friend who had similar opinion as you some time ago but has seen where he was wrong since then.

So we can deduce from that, that everyone else on the planet is like your friend? Ok.

Because I don't change my mind unless a logical reason exists to do so? Thinking Large displays are a massive waste of funds is wrong, apparently.

Netflix didn't make the announcement until July...that is 3rd quarter you moron! That is the whole crux of this story, and this thread.

From the article:

"Netflix warned that it "will see only the negative impact of the pricing change" in the third quarter. The company expects to earn 72 cents to $1.07 a share next quarter. Analysts had been expecting earnings of $1.09 a share for the quarter.

Nearly 75% of Netflix's new customers during the quarter signed up for streaming-only plans. Netflix now has 25.6 million subscribers across the globe, up from 15 million customers a year ago. It has about 24.6 million in the U.S. alone."

Did you talk, just to hear yourself talk as well? I wouldn't doubt it.

use your brain. Q2 ends, data is collected , meeting is called, data is shared. Are you that so stupid that you can’t see that those are two different paragraphs.

the impact of raising the price (people leaving, customers dropping streaming) will only be seen in Q3 (i.e. stock holders prepare yourself)

this is talking about the quarter that is over, how can they know what will happen in the quarter that has barely started.

It is a Q2 report so any real data is for Q2 but with two warnings in it for q#

1) this quarter there will not be growth in the US
2) revenue in the US will drop because some people are dropping Netflix and others moving to disk only for 8$ instead of disk with DL for 10$ that they had before it became 16$)

Again, you like to see yourself type!
How about this, Sparky, go to Mr. Hastings next board meeting...or just email the author of the story to put an end to your speculations.
Were almost a thrid of the way into Q3. In case you weren't aware companies do breakdowns: daily, weekly, QUARTERLY, yearly....year over year. That's how they get these little, valuable, pieces of information called: projections. Which is what this is.
Gheesh, AnthonyP really is "online guy who likes to argue everything"
Anthony, don't be That Guy. I know it's difficult for you, but please try.
