I'm sure he's davasted only getting 500k in salary and only 1.5mil in stock options. Yeah, he's crying all the way to Verizon when they buy Netflix Streaming for over a billion!

"A report from Deadline Reseda says that, at this year’s CES, Warner Bros. has announced that the window between when a movie gets released on DVD and when Netflix can begin offering it to its subscribers has just been doubled from 28 days to 56. Warner Home Video North America president Mark Horak said, “Since we implemented a 28 day window for subscription and kiosk, we have seen very positive results with regard to our sell-through business. One of the key initiatives for Warner Bros. is to improve the value of ownership for the consumer and the extension of the rental window — along with our support of UltraViolet — is an important piece of that strategy.”"

Totally awesome.

Yet another reason why NetFlix is turning AWAY from discs. For the price of 1 or 2 PPV you have access to 50,000 movies, as many was you want. You aren't getting moves that came out last week, but some came out in the past few months. The value for the price is outstanding. Just watched the Paramount restored African Queen tonight. Never had seen it before.

You should watch the BD. It's even better.

Why anyone would watch a VOD/PPV version of a movie that is available on BD is beyond me. Also, the DVD upconverted usually looks and sounds better than a good portion of the VOD/PPV offerings.

Thanks.....I will check this out! Another good one on Netflix is the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Very impressed with this.

Because not everyone can afford to buy every blu that is released. Sometimes you have to pick and choose. Maybe seeing this is their way of finding out if they would want it on blu?

Of course its better, no one said it wasn't. Movies I like enough, I buy on BD. Watching them first, no matter what the resolution, saves me blind buyers remorse. For example I bought The Ten Commandments on release day. That was after seeing it for decades in SD. Seeing it in SD didn't influence my thoughts on if the movie was good or bad enough to buy.

I guess you do realize that NetFlix has movies in HD that aren't out on BD. They also have titles only that are DVD quality that have only been released on VHS so far. So by using your reasoning, I guess that means you should get NetFlix because its better.

So you question why anyone would pay the equivalent of 1 (cheap) BD/month for access to 55,000 titles on over 100 devices?

My family watches several movies a day. Its beyond me why anyone couldn't see streaming as 1000x more convenient and cost effective than buying or renting dozens of BDs a month along with the hassles of waiting for their arrival or continually going out to get them especially when a good portion are not available to rent or even out on BD yet.

Love my 3BD at a time with Netflix! I've watched several 100 BDs this way and saved thousands of dollars by not purchasing! Plus as a big fan of extra features, I'll always opt for the disc. Maybe if streaming provided extra features I might consider the downgrade in PQ/AQ. But for now Netflix BD rental is the absolute greatest thing!
With over 80 movies in my queue at any given time Netflix can delay new titles 3-4 months, for all I care! It'll give me time to catch up.
Just finished watching the Carlos Criterion BD...had I streamed it I would've missed about 5hrs of extra features...NO THANKS!! Keep the discs coming!

+1. I have had the 2 at-a-time plan for a couple years and dropped their streaming after they jacked up the price last year. There just wasn't much that interested me with Netflix's streaming.

If someone's prefers poor DD 2.0, DVD PQ if you're lucky, documentaries, B movies, kids shows, and TV shows then that person doesn't even need an OD player of any kind.

Actually you hit the nail on the head! I would wager that two of the bigger streaming fans are:
kids(well their greatful parents to have a distraction tool)
retired folk

Both groups are, most likely, not as dicerning of the content and it's quality. Also both groups get content not readily available on BD, and to a lesser extent dvd.
I streamed a view movies and tv shows back when I had the service(like you, right before the price hike last year), and it looked great on my 21" pc monitor...not so much on the 58" Panny plasma.

As I said, keep the discs coming! For the price/turnaround time it's the best deal for me! Heck, even with the USPS scaling back their mail services, I've got so many titles in my queue I'm set for a few years!

Why don't you contact Netflix and find out first hand.

I guess you never did, nor currently watch, network or cable TV. And I don't have an instant transporter so those 2 BDs are returned at a snap of a finger and get 2 more, it takes 2 days and with the U.S. post office new slowing in first class mail service, will take 5. If I am interested enough in what I stream, I will buy the BD. I, and tens of millions of others, don't need to only watch content in BD, especially since so much isn't even in BD. And NetFlix streams DD+ not 2.0. HUGE difference. And you have no right to dictate what kind of player anyone needs to own. That would be like me saying you have no right to subscribe to any TV services since you only watch your 2 rented BDs at a time.

Yes they have. I watched several with CC this past week including Amazon Queen and Kill The Irishman. Being that I don't even recall CC before, and now the movies I want have it, just going by that, yes.
