It is my understanding Amazon is used only for accounts management. Netflix has some CDN's of their own (OpenConnect) plus they use Akamai, Limleight and Level 3.

Netflix Still Has DVD/Blu-ray Customers (Lots of them)

QUOTE

Netflix yesterday revealed that it still has 6.9 million subscribers to its DVD/Blu-ray service. Although that is a decrease from the spring of 2013 when it had 8 million disc subscribers, the current numbers indicate that many consumers still prefer the hard disc to streaming. Netflix has downplayed its disc business for the past few years, but the die-hards are not ready to give up.”

A 14% annual decline is significant. Just another indication that Blu-ray is likely to regress to niche status in about 5 years. Criterion may be the only source and prices will be $40-50 per BD.

Like (in my opinion) Netflix regressing to SD streams you mean?

That sounds a little extreme.

Of course people would rather want TRUE HD on Blu Ray for their favorite shows and movies

strikes again with his "Digital" lies even when its said in that article that many people still prefer the true HD disc than the crappy HD netflix has to offer.

The best thing about disc rentals is they will provide access to an expanded library. I find it mildly irritating when people act like a film doesn't exist if it is unavailable on Netflix Streaming.

Yes, but if you looked at it that way some of you would be anti-streaming trolls mredman. I use both services and I just don't get this one extreme or the other? It is kind of like some of the topics in the gaming section of the forum where one console is better than the other. It just comes off childish the more either side beats the Kettle drums.

Actually i am not i have netflix and use it frequently. I think they both will coexist next to each other because there will always be consumers for both. This is not a war. Then there is People that have projector screens will always go for blu rays and then all the videophiles, audiophiles and the collectors there will always be people that want physical media like blu ray for the Best possible quality.

Same here and I wasn't calling you out. I just thought it was a little unfair to call out raygendreau when there are other members on the con side that have the same type of post count. I'm like you, I subscribe to both. While BD is the best format I don't need everything under the sun in my permanent library. I use the rental and streaming to determine what ends up there.

Man, been using the Roku too much for NetFlix. The PS3 has 3D streaming and the Max suggestion system which reminds me of the game You Don't Know Jack. Both are pretty cool. I was amazed at how well the 3D feed looked.

Which makes you more of a streamer than I am. Perhaps you forgot to read this in another thread. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...9&postcount=42

"But there’s going to be another interesting story hiding on Monday’s [Netflix] earnings, one that barely gets any attention anymore these days. Around seven million customers still pay Netflix to send them DVDs of movies and TV shows via mail. Two years ago, that number was twice as high. Fast forward another two years, and there could be around four million customers left who get their red envelopes from Netflix. Or maybe even less."

I didn't read it but this line is a little funny..."Think of me as a messenger of what is likely to be a painful reality for physical disc patriots."

translation - I like to rile up dem natives.
