So no one has experienced this in and out crackling/static sound when watching this? I would love to try out another disk player, but everything else I have watched to test my equipment doesn't do this. Wondering if my disk is defective.

Well nothing is ideal. You guys all are talking about "blown out", is that the only problem you have with the old transfer? When Arrow makes shitty "blown out" or boosted contrast remasters such like "Creepshow 2" everyone is happy about it. But here we need to look out of the window in the background and judge previous transfer. If you like the new remaster, you should understand that original movie cannot be this dull.

I'm not arguing about it. All I'm saying is the remaster looks terribly dull and I would prefer previous one. The film aged, it may look like that today or a year ago, but I believe the movie looked not that dull back in 1980. They needed to correct it at least a bit, other way to make a remaster? Just scanning the film cannot be called "remastering", because they also removed the scratches...

Again...flaws in HDR-SDR conversion are a thing. This issue is not unique to caps-a-holic so why do you keep pointing them out? Hilarious that you claim all screencaps on there are wrong yet use a decades-old laserdisc that was mastered for CRT televisions as a frame of reference. ~Matt |
