Absolutely... definitely... emphatically YES.

Thanks for the advice! I wouldn't want to sell the 4K disc, since I want to "future-proof" my collection. So it doesn't have any "revisionist" elements, like altered sound effects?

So wait....the UK got a 4K release of the international cut now? Argh...I was pairing my extended cut US 4K with a UK BD of the international. If this is what it is, I am happy to replace that UK BD, but not happy that I missed a slip perhaps. EDIT - Appears to be a BD, not a 4K. So is the 'theatrical' based on the new master or is in a relabelled disc of the old master/disc? EDIT - I see Dolby Digital only listed. I may be good, sounds like the old disc.

Well you may not be good if you compare the new BD and 4K discs to that old UK/International BD...the difference in PQ is staggering. I'm not sure I could even watch the shorter cut now to be honest - luckily I prefer the longer cut anyway.

It's the original BD with new disc art.

Watched this disc for the first time tonight, and the opening vistas of the Rockies are breathtaking. This beats BLADE RUNNER as a demo disc IMO.

Absolutely. After only owning the film on DVD, I was blown away by this disc. Watched it with the other half who still doesn't see the difference between SD and HD and even he noticed just how good the disc looks

I've seen "The Shining" many times over the years, on VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, Blu-ray, Theatrically, however when it was released I was too young to go and see it. But I digress, the 4k is stunning! At the beginning of the film, when Jack knocks on Ullman's door for the interview, on the 4k, if you look carefully you can see in the Window, behind Ullman's desk a reflection of Stanley Kubrick and his Camera crew. And I've never noticed that before, it is only there for an instant, but you can see it!!.

Every 4k disc I get is measured against THE SHINING, and they all come up short. The WOW factor is off the charts. Only discs I have that come close are SUSPIRIA and BATMAN ‘89.

Suspiria is still THE catalogue UHD for me atm.

Absolutely flawless.

I'd give an expendable organ to see this for the first time again. I surely would.

Yes and no. Doctor Sleep is definitely a sequel that plays with characters and ghost from The Shining but it also still works really well as its own thing.
That being said you'll probably appreciate it even more after seeing The Shining.

After reading a few posts in this thread, I thought that the Blu-ray included in the UK 4K set was the international cut but I was very surprised to see that it actually is the longer US cut, similar to that of the 4K disc. Odd. Did anyone here get the shorter cut on the standard Blu-ray in the UK set?!?
