Mine too. It and
[Show spoiler]the blood from the elevator
are the two things I associate most from the movie. It's pretty iconic really.

As long as we're picking out details: I noticed for the first time that in some of the exterior shots, there's multiple shades of snow color going on... older, dirtier snow that has a browner/grayish shade; lighter, whiter, more recent snow... wonderful detail coming from someone who's spent their whole life in the northern continental US... by February you can cut into a snow drift and count how many storms you've had by the different colored layers of snow.

Spectacular presentation. Very happy with this. In fact, I have an urge to watch it again. Just an incredible experience revisiting this masterpiece via 4K on a 75 inch TV. I don't have a fancy audio setup, just a couple of stereo bookshelf speakers, but even then I also though the audio was great. Keep these back catalog titles on 4K coming!

there are some great moments where the image takes on a faux 3D dimensionality - the famous shot of Danny in the foreground and the twins in the distance - you just want to reach in and cover his eyes.

Outstanding job Warners [claps]

Yeah I noticed more depth to the image in a few scenes in DV mode, don't usually notice such things. I'm watching my copy a second time later this month so good sooooo good

Watched this last night and all I can say is wow! Easily the best looking 4k disc I’ve ever watched. I can’t wait to see what Warner Bros. gives us in the future.

Ive watched this twice this week and it looks beautiful only problem is a freeze up at the scene where Durkins is receiving the call from Dick Halloran had to pop it out and wipe it down the first viewing then on the second instead of a freeze it was a studder at the same scene irequested a replacement from amazon but it will take a few weeks

I re-watched all extras again and a few on yt

amazing how Kubrick even edited making of documentary to mirror the film in a number of ways #Genius

felt sorry for Kubrick & Scatman more than Shelley again
also enjoyed the praise from Friedkin, Spielberg & other's for Kubrick

shame Scatman's song never made the documentary
he seemed like such a great human being, gentleman, good singer too

and this documentary is nice companion with main making of one
auido starts around 5m40
mainly Vivian tour, but Stanley answers some questions on the telephone for 10m (45m-55m)
and there's a quick visit to UK cinema with posters at end

I wonder how Wendy Carlos is doing? She last updated her charming 90s aesthetic website back in 2009. She's never been the super public type but it's like she's all but disappeared completely. :c

Holy crap! Finally watched this last night, lost for words. My TV is far from the best 4K set, but wow absolutely amazing transfer. Even the missus commented how awesome it looked. And don’t get me started on those outdoor aerial shots. Well done WB!

edit: just regarding playback issues, absolutely no problems to report via a Panasonic player.

My copy didn't freeze but I have experienced the issue on many, many UHDs and it's frustrating me enough that its making me reconsider buying them. I already skip the 4K editions with many new release titles. Pet Sematary (the '89 film) was one of the worst offenders. Pixelation and skips up the wazoo.

Strange. Never had that problem - yet.

I’m not giving up on 4K. Watched Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn for the first time in 4K, and was very impressed with the video quality.

Just got off work guys. I like what you've done with this thread

Anyhow I wish The Shining had a release on 4K like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre had. Correct Aspect Ratio with Mono, 5.1, Atmos, Auro 13.

I'll leave it like that. I'm happy you guys like your copies

Where is Wendy Carlos?

This article was just published a week ago. It doesn't answer the question, though.

Here's a finished* version of this.

I don't like the fluorescent yellow of the new Steelbook so I've gone for a more mustard yellow (that it appears to be in some photos of the original poster). I don't know which is accurate though.

I haven't had the time since watching my 4K of The Shining last week, but I want to watch it again. Even more so seeing those Doctor Sleep trailers and TV spots.

4K done RIGHT. Whomever did this disc should call Disney and some others to help them do it right.

well if Disney had any goddamn sense they would have produced/released '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' on 4K disc - the 4K DCP I saw on the Cinemark 70 foot 'XD' screen looked fantastic.
