[Show spoiler]No... actually WB is just stupid and wouldn't know what an AR is if it bit them in the face.

Runtime of Mike Flanagan’s ‘Doctor Sleep’ Confirmed to Be Longer Than Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’

https://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/...ricks-shining/

For those who are interested in the runtimes of upcoming movies, we’ve learned this week that Mike Flanagan‘s Doctor Sleep, an adaptation of Stephen King’s sequel to The Shining that also serves as a sequel to Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, will be joining this year’s IT: Chapter Two on the list of longest feature film adaptions of King’s horror novels.

Doctor Sleep‘s runtime is 2 hours, 32 minutes, making it just a tad bit longer than Kubrick’s The Shining. The 1980 horror masterpiece ran 2 hours, 26 minutes long.

Doctor Sleep hits theaters on November 8, 2019.

Yeah, but end credits these days are longer than Django’s trouser snake, so will it really be longer where it counts?

Well, i'm suuuper late to The Shining party but yeah, this was a transcendent presentation - an utter delight from start to finish. Nothing else can be said that hasn't been said hundred times already. When Warner Bros gets around to remastering Full Metal Jacket to the same standard and R Lee Ermey is screaming obscenities at the camera in glorious UHD, i'll likely weep tears of joy.

One of my favourite moments in The Shining has always been when the family embarks on their car journey to the hotel and it becomes painfully obvious that Jack Torrence just can't stand his wife. He intensely dislikes her, and not after two, three months of isolation at the hotel, but right there in that car. I just think, "What are you doing, man. This is the worst idea ever" . Great stuff.

I watched my disc last weekend on the Sony X700 and had some annoying sync issues. The whole first half of the film, things seemed off-sync, but not consistently. Some dialogue seemed perfectly in sync and other scenes were noticeably off. At some point later in the film, the movie stuttered for several seconds, and I thought it was going to freeze, but it recovered. Maybe that was the layer change, tripping up my x700? Anyways, after that, sync was fine for the remainder of the film. Spot on.

Has anybody had a similar experience? The film looked absolutely fantastic, but I was annoyed by the sync, so it somewhat detracted from my enjoyment.

My GF loves that scene. Needless to say, she's not the type who tolerates being dismissed or talked down to.

I do kind of wish we got to see more of that side of Jack and Wendy's relationship in the film if only because they play off one another so well. I don't think it hurts the film given everything else it does so well but there is some truth that Jack goes from quietly resentful to utterly insane pretty quickly.

I have the same player and didn't have any sync issues. Well, any unexpected sync issues I should say. My tv seems to add a 100 ms delay to UHD playback for whatever reason so I have my receiver set to compensate on that input. But with that said, everything was perfect for me. No stutters here either.

Its unbelievable how awesome this looks. I need every kubrick movie on the format now. Just incredible work. Never felt more moved by Duvall's Goat tier horror performance.

I can live with the current transfers of Strangelove, Barry Lyndon, Full Metal Jacket and even Eyes Wide Shut, but A Clockwork Orange's video-like transfer needs a filmic upgrade ASAP.

I thought this was a funny bit from Wikipedia: “It was the only one of Kubrick's last nine films to receive no nominations at all from either the Oscars or Golden Globes, but was nominated for a pair of Razzie Awards, including Worst Director and Worst Actress (Duvall),[63] in the first year that award was given.” Wikipedia quote

I feel that all of the main actors were phenomenal. Always have.

Maybe the 4K release will get nominated for Best Performance this year?

Eyes Wide Shut would make for one incredible uhd though
