At the end of the day, Kubrick chose to live his life in the UK so we should get both cuts on UHD and really we should be getting the very original cut with the hospital ending. If Kubrick were alive today he would be giving the UK a special bonus.

Nope, not just you. It's awful. It looks like the generic cover for a very below average Mondo vinyl LP. It's the type of print that artists throw down to make some quick moola.

The hospital ending and a new edit on the 80 hours of behind the scenes Vivian shot would be so great.

Crazy beats, crazy talk. And all for the equivalent of $7.99 am I right?

France only has the US cut in UHD, no euro cut (UHD,HD or SD).
People are waiting to see if HMV / UK have an exclusive on UHD of the Euro cut (branched with the US cut), but I don't believe it.

This isn't like the US cut on blu exclusively at HMV in the UK and at retailers in the USA.
People are thinking that the Euro cut will be exclusively available on UHD in the UK, and not anywhere else. Yeah, no.

Film connoisseurs.

* By the way, it doesn't look like Jack on the cover.

It looks like a stock broker from Wall Street.

I doubt the hospital scene exists anywhere.

I would be very scared of a branching title of this scale. Any time there's branching there's a chance a branch will get messed up and one version will not be "right". With a film like this with so many scenes cut in the UK version, it could get quite messy. It's easy to overlook a single quick scene or cut.

The proper way to do it is to have 2 discs, one for each cut. But we know big studios don't like to go the extra mile for us these days.

I think the cover art is pretty cool. It could have been way, way worse. How about floating heads photoshopped against a random backdrop?

Yet they supposedly have footage from 2001.

That's right (no two BD-66, but they are using more BD-100 recently).

The new art is bad, but since this is getting a theatrical re-release with this artwork, it technically becomes 'poster art'... :-/

Warner is more likely to do 2 discs than branching. They already have quite a few BD-100 discs, a lot of European versions of their releases are like that to accommodate additional audio dubs and subtitles.

Amazon UK (not active yet). They've gone with the US cover (UHD/BD/Digital)

It's a 2 disc UHD/BD combo. Note the one running time:
https://shop.warnerbros.co.uk/the-sh...tra-hd-blu-ray

US release is a 2 disc UHD/BD/Digital combo too, with one running time listed on it's press release
French release is a 3 disc set UHD/BD/DVD with the one cut.

There is a pattern here, with only HMV's FB post breaking it. Let's see if they are correct.

You mean two BD-100 discs in the same 4K package for one movie?

The Shining was made for Jack Nicholson. No other actor could've play that role but him.

The 2hr cut would fit on a 66GB with ease, particularly with only 4 audio tracks (only one of which is likely to be lossless). Hell, even the 144-minute version would just fit onto a 66GB with an audio bitrate of 5 Mb/s (enough for lossless English DTS-HD 5.1 and DD 5.1 of the other languages) and an average video bitrate of 55 Mb/s, it probably wouldn't even need that much because the movie is so slowly paced.

Yeah, and I wish the guy on the front cover would ressemble him.
Other than that I'm good with the rest.
