No question the UHD will deliver the best PQ of any MCU film to date; in my opinion the potential exists for a very wide margin, i.e., Infinity War on a large dose of HDR/WCG steroids.

taken on its own as 1 movie Endgame was fine...I just don't think it was worth the 11 year and 21 movie buildup...

I saw this tonight. I enjoyed it plenty, but I still felt Infinity War was a much better film between these two.

If done right, the UHD for this should be an absolute banger, though.

Infinity War, Captain America: Winter Soldier, GotG 1 were all better then Endgame...

Agreed.

I think Civil War was better, too.

If you get the chance, go to the Endgame spoilers thread in the movies section, and I posted there where I was disappointed in Endgame. I am curious to see if anyone else shares my grievances.

.
I saw it on the Samsung LED screen and it did not look like a HDR grading. I wonder if any HDR versions are released to cinemas at all since the LED is certainly HDR capable.

Pre-ordered this before even seeing it last night, but damn, this was SO good. Completely unexpected yet entirely satisfying. Couldn't have asked for more. Dunno if it's the best/favorite, but it's close.

There's only a handful of Samsung LED screens in North America, and I don't believe Samsung even has a deal with a major theater chain.

So while not sure of your location, AMC Dolby Cinema definitely has a Dolby Vision + Atmos 4K/HDR DCP from Disney, and it's no different than your home media display for any film that is created and mastered with HDR in mind. With HDR, the film as intended. Without HDR, well, you really haven't seen it as intended.

Personally, I would look into a ticket refund.

Given their screen size limitations, I just assumed Samsung LED was just a LED flash for specialized applications. Does Samsung have a deal with any major theater chains outside the US?

Well, let's look on the bright side. At least you're not hook for a 2K pre-order of a Samsung Flop.

I meant fold. I'm sure that they did as well. Fold, not flop.

My take is that they are two very different films because they had to be in the grand scheme of things.

Setting preferences aside, I believe Endgame is a very well executed film given the task at hand, which is far more challenging than the setup presented in IW.

Yeah, this UHD should be packed with demo material. As for the movie itself, I don’t think it’s the type of MCU title that I’ll randomly pick on a Friday night to just enjoy as a stand-alone experience and to relax and unwind, but I thought it was as close to a perfect end of the saga thus far as I could have hoped for. Gonna watch it again next weekend with my wife in Dolby Cinema (much better seats this time around!) so I’ll be looking more closely at PQ and it will be nice to see how it holds up on second viewing.

Well, everyone will have different experiences, but for me, and as I posted in the Spoiler thread, given the film length, character density and narrative, the second viewing was a very different, and in some ways, a more satisfying ride, because it's less overwhelming of an experience.

Personally, I believe Endgame has a very high rewatch factor, especailly if the disc fulfills on the promise of the DV/Atmos DCP and is a stunner.

Time will tell.

Nevermind, it became clear thru the checkout process. Can't believe you can order the Steelbooks already for pickup at an unspecified future date. I thought that doesn't usually happen until around 3-4 weeks before release.

Enjoyed IW more but Endgame was more satisfying if that makes sense.

The screening was in Europe. I can't be sure about the HDR but compared to what I see at home this had no HDR effects, just nice and bright SDR.

Second viewing is EVERYTHING for this movie. It is very different than Infinity War and there's just way too much to process. Infinity War was designed to be a very easy to follow, straight up epic action adventure. Not saying Endgame is SUCH A DRASTICALLY better and more smarter film, but the second viewing I had was much needed. i can confidently say it's my favorite MCU movie now.

Also for whatever reason I cried like a baby on second viewing lol. I think the first time is just too overwhelming and it's too much to take in.

Agree about the rewatch factor. Will see this at least 4x in cinemas (saw RPX, next viewing is Laser IMAX, then Dolby Cinema).

We must get a no-black-bar Blu-Ray of this amazing film.

Is the Target Exclusive a Digibook or does it come with a booklet like Mary Poppins Returns?
