I viewed ENDGAME in standard widescreen, (no 3D, no IMAX) -- the PQ is still very strong. Not razor-sharp the way I think some would expect, but still quite good. Check if you notice some smoothing on
[Show spoiler]Captain America in the scene he first tests the machine with Hulk and Ant-man
. Definitely the kind of thing where people would scream "DNR!" when the disc comes out -- but clearly the smoothing is in the theatrical source file.

Love this film. Can’t wait to watch at home in UHD.

And while I’m mostly over the no Imax included. It sucks I won’t ever see that final battle in all it’s Imax glory

Infinity War and Endgame really should be taken as 1 long movie...so watching the UHDs back-to-back should be amazing...

Yes, THIS ^

Saw it today in a packed IMAX theater. Kids all over (dressed up too; there was an about 8 year old girl sitting in front of us in a Captain Marvel costume and I saw a young boy wearing a Spider-Man costume in the line), plenty of people wearing all kinds of Avengers shirts and the like, and it did not detract from the experience in the least! Like RustinCohle said, I didn't hear any kids crying, no one talking or otherwise making noise and only reacting where they should. Everyone was hanging on the edge of their seats fully concentrated on the movie. In fact, I think it would have taken away from the experience to see it in a dead theater or at home; it's so much more entertaining to be with a crowd that enjoys it too and being a part of their reactions. For example, the biggest reaction the crowd in my theater had was when
[Show spoiler]Captain America summons Mjölnir and saves Thor; this got applause and cheers from the crowd and was awesome
this was a big moment not just in the film, but a big payoff for real fans of the MCU that it made it more enjoyable to hear everyone's excitement for it.

If you're even a casual fan, you're doing yourself a BIG disservice not seeing this in its first run in theaters before the crowds are thin. And if you have an IMAX or Dolby Cinema theater near you, see it that way if at all possible.

It will most likely come with a booklet instead of the digibook style that they release for DC movies. All of Target Exclusives for Marvel movies since Black Panther had the same style with separate booklet (i.e. Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp).

This was the first time in ages not one phone was out the duration of the movie. During the ending, not one person made a sound. I haven't been part of an experience like that in years.

I got to see this saturday and loved it. They sure give you your moneys worth anyway with lots to digest in the quickly moving 3 hours. You LOL'd, your eye's got wet (lady behind us was actually sniffling with tears, crazy ), you sat on the end of your seat at times waiting for the next words, you fist pumped and quietly cheered during some action sequences or when a fav character showed up, you noticed the dead silence in the theater at moments, you tensed up then sighed with relief, you ohhh'ed and ahhh'ed at some of the visuals, etc, etc. All in all a great time at the movies! I can't remember the last time one movie did so many things so well.

This is going to be a tough wait now for the UHD to come home!!

While I agree with you on this, much like Infinity War it's blocked for the standard ratio. So I don't think it's the Russo Bros intended version.

Easiest example of this that I noticed was
[Show spoiler]when Hulk and Rocket enter New Asgard in the back of a pickup truck. The sign for which is not meant to be visible until the camera pans down to it, but it's visible as soon as it cuts to that wide shot because of the open matte. Which makes that reveal feel kinda flat.

3D was sensational. Strong 3D especially in the action scenes.
The movie had Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision but I doubt DV will be on the 4K.
CGI is the same quality as Infinity War. Marvel obviously put their 'A team' on Avengers movies and their 'B team' on their other movies.

The CGI is nowhere the same quality as Infinity War. Infinity War's CGI was weak af. And the final battle in Infinity War was really such a letdown. Endgame was far, far better. One of the better MCU movies in a long time. It beats Black Panther by a long mile and I liked Black Panther quite a lot.

Infinity War didn't make nearly as much money as this movie has made so far at this point. And in the end, Endgame will blow past Infinity War like it was nothing. At least that what is being projected. Endgame is blowing up bigger than I think anyone thought would happen. For a 3 hour movie.

I still don't think it will affect the movie's home release. We're in the summer blockbuster derby; as big as Endgame is, it won't hold the same as something like Avatar or Star Wars: The Force Awakens purely because of all the competition. I don't see the home video release pattern changing, especially given it won't have much more money to make by August. But hey, we'll see!

How many releases of this will I buy? I imagine the standard slip will look gorgeous. The target digi already looks great... I guess the only question that remains for me is whether I will also buy the steel.

And I haven't even seen this yet! Come on Tuesday!!!

He said "at this point", i.e. IW hadn't made a billion worldwide in its opening frickin' weekend. Endgame will exceed that ^ global total for sure, the question is by how much, and does it have the legs to catch up to the blue cat people?

People keep tossing this in there, to which I can only think back to the running times of the current worldwide box office leader (Avatar, 2h40m) and the one before that (Titanic, 3h14m). There's something about these kinds of longer movies that, when they catch fire (we now say a prayer for BR2049), it seems like a true 'event' that people simply must go and see, and not just once but multiple times. People would've gone crazy for Endgame even if it was three minutes long, true enough, but even so: to do what it's just done in the OW with a 3hr running time is the most insane box office performance of all-time. If Endgame does end up toppling Avatar, as Avatar did for Titanic, then the average running time for those three box office behemoths will be a shade under three hours.

I thought it was absolutely incredible. It gave us enough time for the effects of the Snap to really sink in, to show just why it meant so much to them - by extension, to everybody - and why they'd risk their lives to get their way of life back. It does of course pose some awkward questions, like what about the people who died as an indirect result of the Snap, but overall it's such an amazing ride that those things are best left to the ultra nerds who will obsess over such stuff until the end of time e.g. all the timey-wimey plot holes.

There's not really that much competition for the next month or so. I can't think of anything huge that would upset Endgame. What we're seeing right now is unprecedented. Once in a lifetime type of stuff. These types of movies don't get bowled over by any old movie. So far the only real competition that Endgame has is Dark Phoenix and that's not tracking well. Aladdin does come out next month, but I can't see it being any threat to Endgame. I think Disney nuked the fridge again with Aladdin's release date. This will probably be another Solo. Same with Godzilla.

Infinity War was still making pretty good money during the Memorial Day weekend and it opened to $100 million less (give or take) than Endgame. Endgame will certainly come down, but I doubt it will go down that badly or quickly. Estimates for this movie's final domestic take is $800 million. You cannot make that kind of money without good back to back weekend box office and good weekly box office.

It's crazy that we're currently living in the era with most of the biggest theatrical movie releases of all-time, that they're super hero movies & Star Wars, and that Disney owns pretty much all of them.
