As for myself, when it comes to UPCs, I don't use them just because I don't want to cover the pictures any more than I have to. Personally I'm a fan of covers that use bigger pictures and prefer a minimalist approach.

As for me and UPC's... I will always use them. It just presents so much more of authenticity to the covers, and so far I haven't had any trouble building artwork around them. To me I'd rather have someone doubt me that its a fake cover, then say that's a pretty picture on the back. Just my view on it for what its worth.

Also, I've tried making this request...like 5 times now. But I'm wondering if someone could possibly make a custom for Silent Hill, that simply uses the poser of the girl's face without the mouth.

I think they add a degree of authenticity to the covers. I don't particularly like them, but for the covers that are intended to look like real covers, when it's not there, the covers sometimes look like they're missing something. That said, on the covers that aren't nessecarily trying to replicate a studio template, trying to do something more artistic, I'm not sure they really needed since, as Trean said, they can be covering up some great art.

Yep, your UPCs do always blend in perfectly, so I don't mind them when they're done that well. When they stick out they're not too hot though.

And I agree with others, version 2 above is better than version 1. For both the spine text and lack of vampire on the cover.

Ad for UPCs, I tend to use them, but definitely not for practical reasons. I like to change their colors and put them in odd places. If it works with the back of my cover, I think it adds some depth!

I'm Having trouble seeing the vamp on the cover. I'm excited for Day Breakers though.

I've looked for them too. Best bet is to use one from a scan. That's what I did.

I just noticed a bit of discussion regarding UPCs on the previous page that I had missed and would like to add that I also prefer to see the UPCs on the cover art, just didn't like all the unused white space in this case (dv8pdx's extremely professional looking Avatar case).
