also, oesnt the 4k 3d projector have to show a 2d version at 48 or 96 fps- so what is the problem with 4k 3d 48fps. i believe these 58 theaters are using a 4k projector with 3d hfr.(still not sure about the 4k master) are you just talking about the imb having trouble decoding/storing that much space becuase its 3d and 4k or something else? you must be talking about the master because the projectors can do 3d 4k hfr, and that leaves the dci spec and the bandwidth to from the server to the imb and the storage deoding of the imb which i believed has been worked out in these theaters. does anyone know the dci standards or the normal sony imb or the ones they use for christie/barco systems? IMAX 3D 24fps & HFR Technicolor is shipping all of these except for the IMAX, which IMAX will ship. Red, Pink and Orange also have 7.1 audio. The HFR versions can't be ingested on an LMS; they must be ingested directly to the screen server. Last edited by victortubeman; 12-13-2012 at 05:28 AM. Reason: Info just posted... |

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=31882 on the order of 99.9 % of the time if that gives you some reassurance. But, nevertheless, you’re not going to get me to tell you my source associated with that production, so good luck with that. I don’t remember anyone asking me, who from SPE told me that the OCN of Lawrence of Arabia was being scanned at 8K, long before it hit the internet waves. Look, you don’t need to have any inside source, you don’t need to know anything about projectors, all you need to know is a little bit about 3D 4K post production and do a little cold, calculating deductive reasoning… https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...rs#post6867887 My friend, the motion picture was mastered in 2K…and quickly looking back at your posts in this thread, I believe that was your original query after 42021 chimed in and is the most significant issue here. |

I can’t give you a public link to in-house 4K 3D 48 fps testing from NHK or Sony, but with the Fraunhofer Institute, you may be able to find the particulars concerning a 3D HFR demo they did at the last NAB, if you can accept the Arri as an ‘almost 4K’ camera. Heck, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was shot with Red Epics but only 3600x1500 made up the actual frame and that’s considered *4K mastered* by the post community. Otherwise, munch on this my skeptical friend…. http://qubecinema.com/events/news/20...-giant-screens Last edited by Penton-Man; 12-13-2012 at 07:55 AM. Reason: added a phrase for clarity |
