Default The "Transformers on Blu-ray?" Mega Thread

I just saw Blades of Glory and in the previews before the feature, there was one on Transformers and at the end, there was the Blu-Ray logo with the HD-DVD logo. I thought it was weird because the movie has newly arrived on DVD, so I guest they had time to acknowledge that this movie was HD-DVD exclusive :P What are your thoughts about this?

Paramount was paid $150 million by microsoft to go hd-dvd exclusive a few months before the scheduled release of Transformers. It was never going to be a blu-ray exclusive but paramount definitely shot themselves in the foot by not releasing this on blu and taking m$ money. Spider-man 3 is going to blow transformers away in sales!!

Are you dreaming? We're well past this here.

Default Transformers on Blu-ray; dream or reality?

Someone has probably asked this before, but anyone know if the company will release this high grossing movie on Blu Ray or am I just dreaming?

It is just a dream until Paramount's 18 month contract of being HD-DVD exclusive is over or until this war is finally finished.

chance that it will come out on blu in S. Korea or Sweeden, then all you have to do is import.

It will be reality but you still have 12 months to go unless the format war ends sooner.

And 12 months is not a long time. I'll just sit and be patient and watch the downfall of HD DVD

South Korea is Region A, same as USA, so even if it is region coded it's all good.

Which begs the question: Why haven't they been released there already?

Probably threats/incentives from Paramount not to. Also I have yet to see a Korea-only Blu-ray not from a major studio like Sony hit.

Even if Paramount were to return to Blu tomorrow, I have my personal doubts you'll see Transformers until TF2 comes out in 2009. The window is rapidly closing on it

The possibilities are actually greater. We do not now the distributors for all countries in the world but we know this so far:

So far it is mostly the theatrical distributor rights that have been posted on IMDB but more DVD and other distributor rights have already been signed. It is likely that Paramount or other HD-DVD exclusive studio does not have exclusive rights in Finland, Argentina, Philippines and South Korea.

Personally I do not like the movie at all but I think it would be a great thing if it were on Blu-ray before Paramount switch back to support Blu-ray.

Soon to be reality i'm sure.

This horrible horrible! format war will end sometime soon when all the DUD supporters come to there senses and realise that we need one HD format otherwise they're going to keep hurting the chance for a single HD format to have room to breathe in retail.

Needless to say as soon as it's available on Blu-ray i'll have purchased my copy faster than you can say Optimus Prime!!!

Just import the cartoon on Blu-Ray. It's far superior than the crap Bay made.

Default Transformers on Blu-ray

You guys think they will re-encode the A/V codecs in the movie to take advantage of BD? Can Mr. Awesome Bay demand that they put hi-res audio on there as well?

My guts tell me that Mr Bay, who was put aside for the HD DVD encode, is going to be very much involved in the Blu Ray TF version...
Now the real question is when. And my guts also tell me "certainly before Feb. 09"

Bay will make certain that the Blu-ray version is nothing short
of Perfect.

You can count on that!
