Talking Not Another Transformers Thread Again....But

Hey everyone I know what you are going to say(not again) but I have a question...Transformers is suppose to so called help save HD-DVD from being put on the sidelines...and we all know about the deal...then why the hell whenever you see the Transformers comercial for the dvd..no mention of HD-DVD..just curious...I couldn't care less..I just find it weird that if this is what its suppose to be the studio or the HD_DVD group sure as hell isn't selling it....

They've mentioned HD-DVD everytime I've seen the commercial.

Who said Transformers was going to save HD DVD? Was it a major company or some 12-year-old forum jockey?

It's just a movie in a catalog of a company doing business. It's expected to sell copies, because of box office success, that's it.

I've only seen an ad for it once on TV and it didn't mention HD-DVD either.

I think Transformers will do very well for SD DVD but will do mediocre on HD-DVD. I don't think Transformers will be a movie that will convert people to HD-DVD. I think the holiday will be a driver for the switch and not a movie. I myself have not seen an ad for Transformers yet.

yep, every time I saw it, it says available for DVD and HD-DVD on the 16th

I must be the only one who did not see this in theaters so it's really not that big of deal to me

Don't worry, the sales on Transformers for HD-DVD won't last very long because most people collect blu-ray, plus nobody is stupid enough to go out and buy a HD-DVD player just to watch Transformers or some other titles. But then again some people have the LG hybrid blu-ray/hd-dvd player so it doesn't make a difference to them.

I didn't see it in the theaters and I probably won't see it for awhile. I'm sure I would like it but I guess I am somewhat lazy

Don't worry, HD-DVD format won't sell that many copies of Transformers and will switch to blu-ray very soon. Transformers is supposed to come to blu-ray in 18 months but I think it will be earlier.

Well, It wont save HD DVD from the beating, But i will tell one thing it doesnt hurt them. That movie will be sick in HD, i prefer Transformers more than any of the blu ray tittles comming out besides spiderman 2.1. Its a shame that a know alot of people going neutral cause of that movie. Alot....

People are actually going neutral over one movie? I think that is kind of pathetic. People must have a lot of money to waste to adopt a complete new format just for a movie. And people wonder why there is even a war...

I actually didn't watch the movie...didn't have the time with the work I was doing. I had planned on watching it when it came out on IMAX for a while, but never got around to that either.

Now, I am with everyone else that says that people won't buy an HD DUD just to get Transformers when they can buy it on straight DVD. However, I don't want us thinking it isn't a force and looking through Blu-colored glasses...on Amazon.com the HD DUD version is selling #6 on their best-sellers list for DVDs on the front page at this moment. Again, I do know that Amazon.com only shows a small percentage of sales for the consumer base, but it still shows there is a demand for that version.

I saw the commercial so much today it made me sick. "own it on dvd and HD-DVD" everytime. It just made me decide to netflix the dvd, I get my movie and paramount doesn't get my money not yet ayway.
Then I will buy at least 2 blu-ray movies on the 16th to help offset the boost in hd-dvd sales. I know my lowly two discs wont do much but if all us pro-blu people pull together we should be able to more than make up for it.

I totally agree, actually its more than "kind of pathetic" its totally pathetic. Its funny allot of times it is the same people crying about how they wish the format war would end.

The commercials the OP was referring to was put out to just introduce the date of release for the film. They were broadcasting those commercials up until about a week ago, then I noticed a change to the ones that said they were coming out in DVD and HD DUD. I think some of the original commercials are still being broadcast, but the newer version have become a regular feed.

I plan on buying the regular DVD because of this.

If I play it on my PS3, wouldn't it be upscaled?
