The 3D will be the same, but sometimes, as in the case of Clash of the Titans 3D, it looks better on home video for whatever reasons.

So I have this little 3D screen that I really enjoy strong 3D movies on, and a big Panny plasma for everything else. For my first viewing (ever, I missed this in theatres), should I go 2D or 3D?
I only saw this in 3D, so that's what I would go with first even if I had a super sized 2DTV. How small is the 3DTV screen?

Sadly , given the talent and resources of the studio, a missed opportunity to vigorously promote the true advantages of the 3D format over 2Din fact, some passionate 3D aficionados might even call it a travesty, given the high profile nature of the Spiderman franchise.

Other than the 3D in the action scene(s), the only thing memorable or significant with this motion picture among experienced stereographers is that it initiated the widespread adoption of quarter wave retarders in live action 3D shooting because they markedly curtail polarization artifacts with 3D beam splitter shootingwhich led the inventor to develop an even better solution, a third generation mirror coating to eliminate the need for additional glass (which DPs dislike in the first place) in front of the lens

[Show spoiler]I think you're talking about the funeral scene in the rain correct?

Well, we will have to cross our fingers and hope they realized their mistake and push it more for the next one. The next one should be more fun, with more action besides.

Thanks for the reply.

24", but I sit a lot closer. It takes up more of my peripheral vision than the 50" 2D. But I don't enjoy weak movies on it, such as Conan or Green Lantern.

My rental's been delayed so I have some time to think this over.

If I was going to buy a movie anyway I'd get the 3D version for sure. But that's just me I guess. You might get a bigger TV someday.

Anyway, the 3D was good on the most fun parts of the movie... It's a lot better than Green Lantern. I didn't see the 3D version of Conan.

Maybe wait and read more comments on the 3D BD. I can't comment on how I think it looks at home yet. Soon.

I always buy the 3D version for just that reason.

But I'm not buying this just yet. It's just on the top of my QuickFlix (rental) queue, and it's a 2D+3D disk, so I didn't know which way to watch it first. If the 3D is strong, I'll get a real kick out of it even on my little screen.

But if it is unnoticeable it would be much more enjoyable on my big screen, with my big sound. And the couch is more comfy when it's not pushed up against the computer desk.

But there is a few positive 3D comments, so I'm swaying that way.

Man, this movie will probably be in high rental demand so long, I might wind up giving in and buying it anyway! I'm sure I'll want it after I've seen it. But after TDKR, I don't feel like taking chances...

Ahh, I see your dilemma. Personally I'd have to go 3D though. There is one particular pop out scene where Spider-Man is swinging up out of the screen and falling back in that I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks at home. In the theater it was really cool. He comes out doing flips over the heads of the audience that were in the rows in front of me. I thought the final battle looked really good. I remember thinking, Wow, this looks awesome. But of course the final judgment will have to be after seeing it again at home.

I know what you mean about The Dark Night Rises. I didn't care for that either. Batman doesn't do much of anything in that movie other than get beat up a couple times. Disappointing if you want fun super hero action.
I'll take more Spider-Man any day. Way more fun. The new Spider-Man is a bit slow to get going though, considering they have to go over the whole creation of Spider-Man again. Getting bit by the spider, uncle dying and whatnot. It's good though.

Sold. 3D it is, some of that sounds amazing!

Yeah, not looking forward to the spider and all that again, but I'm sure it's all set up in a new way, and even if it's not an entirely new story follows! I know that from the trailers...

Still can't believe I missed this one, but I'm happy I'll see it soon.

Most likely have a 2D viewing with the whole family the next day on the big set-up too. The little screen, the intimacy of the smooshed in couch and a glass of wine with the wife is very nice for the nights when the kids are in bed..

Cool, hope I've not steered you wrong and you're not disappointed. Let me know how it turns out.

I will do.

As I said, it could be a while. It's in my rental queue, and everyone seems to want it right now!

Even though there wasn't much 3D in this one, I were really at the edge of my seat with the Spidey stuff. Definitely the one 3D movie I wish for this Christmas.

I saw this last night, I must say I'm really dissapointed in the 3D. I'm no expert when it comes to 3D and it's terminology but boy was it flat. My wife and I kept saying we're better off watching this in 2D. Thank god I liked the story because I would've switched it to 2D.

I agree..I went into this thinking that the 3D would be amazing seeing as the Marvel universe has improved its 3D quality as time progressed...sadly I was left wanting....there are a few scenes where the potential was shown - just a pity it wasnt utilised right through the movie.....I have to say that even though I,Robot has taken a fair amount of flack on this board.....it's actually a better 3D experience than "The Un-amazing Spiderman"

Sadly dissapointed,
Chris

Based on these two trailers, the dialogue sequences look a little flat but the action sequences look incredible! Loads of parallax and I love how they really showcase the height! I think the swinging sequences will be demo worthy! The part where spidey swings out of the screen.....
There are a few pop out moments as well. The first person sequences should make for some interesting 3D as well.

Pause the trailer and observe the 3D as the editing is pretty fast.

As long as the action is in 3d, do we really need to see people talking pop out the screen???

I kind of agree with that notion, but it is nice when the 3d is strong in dialogue scenes imo . Feels more immersive

I hear you, but it generally wont happen as they want certain scenes to stick out, and thus the creation of a depth script.

If it doesnt require it, they will usually dial it way down.

I'd be all for Emma Stone popping out of the screen.
