Strong 3D:
I bet it'll look better at home, but for great 3D, I'd watch the night time action scenes where Amazing Spider Man is swinging through the city or fighting. Great 3D: There was a dialog shot I remember really standing out as great 3D and that was during the shot where they showed the classroom with the students sitting at their desks. Nice dimension there also. It was clear they knew what they were doing to get that shot, and that it wasn't an accident. Weak 3D: The flattest scene I remember was when Peter and his girlfriend were talking to each other at night, by the window of their apartment. It looked nearly 2D, so I flipped up my glasses and the screen also looked 2D in the theater. I kept thinking the movie could have benefited from more dimension instead of downplaying it as it often did. Especially being filmed with 3D cameras, which seemed like a wasted opportunity during these shots. We did pay extra for the 3D afterall. If we could mostly agree on that, and if by some chance the talent in charge of the 3D for the next one happen to glance at this thread (it is possible), then we might persuade them to offer the great 3D from the action shots, for every shot where possible in the new Amazing Spider Man 2 movie, not just select scenes as with part 1. Just saying the entire movie, Amazing Spider Man (and part 2 and 3), deserves great 3D. Disagree? Last edited by Zivouhr; 10-25-2012 at 03:13 PM. |

It's a bit ironic that when they finally film a super hero movie with native 3D, they decide to make it mostly flat. What the heck is wrong with these people, lol. Someone wake them up.
Anyway, I'm not overly concerned about this one. Since as has been mentioned the action looks good. And to be honest, once I've watched it a couple times I'll mostly be putting it in for the action scenes. I'm already well aware of how Peter Parker developed his abilities, I won't need to go over the entire story again and again. Looking forward to the next ones though. Now that they have gotten the whole bit by the spider and the uncle dying stuff out of the way, hopefully the next ones will be more action packed. After all, super hero movies are for watching super hero action. And Spider-Man action is the best. ![]() Last edited by Lovemy3D; 10-26-2012 at 02:39 AM. |

I'm gonna buy this movie in 3d day one if I can. while the 3d wasn't always super strong, I don't really recall it being THAT weak in all of it's flatter scenes. We'll see once I get a chance to watch this in 3d for a second time. I loved the movie anyways, so the purchase is a no brainer :P

I would say that the most enlightened 3D team in Hollywood today where the stereographer is given free rein or, at least encouraged to produce something worthwhile to view (over its 2D counterpart) is that of the Dreamworks Animation 3D team of Jeffrey Katzenberg/Phil Mcnally and the latest result is the superb Madagascar 3D. |

This is probably the weakest filmed in 3D movies next to Death of a Samurai Hari Kari. The 3D gets better in the action sequences but the it gets lost in all of the strobing from fast camera moves and fast action. The 3D goes from really weak, to weak, to that one awesome shot at the end.

![]() The Amazing Spider-Man begins when Peter Parker is only a child. His parents have to go away and they leave him with his aunt and uncle, May and Ben. Peter's parents die under suspicious circumstances and the mystery of their death is one of the driving forces of the story. The story picks up when Peter is in high school. He gets picked on and beat up often by a bully named Flash. The pursuit of knowing more about what happens to his parents leads him to Dr. Curt Connors who works at Oscorp. While there, Peter gets bitten by a spider who gives him the powers to stick to walls, spider-sense and increased strength. Blah Blah Blah.... The death of his uncle leads him to create a costume and become the superhero vigilante known as Spider-Man. In the meantime, Dr. Connors is looking to cure the human world of all weaknesses, especially his own because he is missing his right arm. Using the DNA of a lizard, in hopes of re-growing his arm leads to a terrible side effect by turning him into a human lizard. Now a villain, The Lizard devises a diabolical plot against New York City unless Spider-Man can stop him. So we all should know if you watched previous Spider-Man movies the basic plot of how he becomes Spider-Man. In a way, I wish they left all that out of this new movie. To be honest for me the beginning was boring and predictable because I have seen it all before on the other Spider-Man! ![]() Other then the beginning I actually enjoyed the rest of the movie. I saw it in the IMAX when it first came out and was blown away by the 3D towards the middle and end of the movie. And the Blu-Ray 3D transfer is just as good I am happy to report! ![]() The 3D is subtle at the begining with a few good depth shots of New York at times but once Peter turns into Spider-Man it really kicks in. Depth in this movie is amazing! When the camera looks up at a tall building it feels the same as if you were standing in New York City looking up at that building yourself. Often times when Spidy shoots his web they appear to come right outa the screen at you, and a few times while he swings his feet come out into your face ![]() The bluray also has some cool extras such as director commentary telling you all about the film, the camera man talks about how to shoot 3D and how they got such good depth with the camera and they added some of the best clips you can play around with using your remote to control the convergence making it have more depth or popout. This is a must buy 3D movie of course and something you will enjoy if you love Spidy and 3D. 3D quality - 9 outa 10 |

"Why would you start a thread about a review that you did ? ...... Very strange"
Erm, probably because this is the 3D Blu-Ray Movie section where users talk of 3D blu-ray movies, give their opinions, post new movies and reviews of them and talk of the 3D quality and experience ![]() It isn't out in the US yet that I know of but is in a few countries. I am in Japan and got an advance copy. |

Just a quick post this as im still watching the movie for the first time.
At 02:01:01 & 02:01:28 there is a camera shot and 3D effect that I swear is lifted straight from Resident Evil Afterlife, in the opening shots. Its really uncanny this. ![]() Last edited by sookymonster; 10-30-2012 at 02:48 AM. Reason: more info |

Bravia3D gave this 9/10 for 3D in his review... no one seems to think this is so. And I hear the 2D disk bears amazing (spiderman) quality.
So I have this little 3D screen that I really enjoy strong 3D movies on, and a big Panny plasma for everything else. For my first viewing (ever, I missed this in theatres), should I go 2D or 3D? |

Picked up my copy (along with the ET plush toy version) the other day. Sampled bits of it and liked it far more than the theatrical presentation. Will report back once I've watched the complete film again.
