In regards to the pic at the very top of the article ^, this is how it looked like with the guys setting up before the shot for The Amazing Spider-Man -

Attachment 38771
On a housekeeping note, on the last page, I edited the above today for clarity as apparently the THR link was malfunctioning.

Received a PM asking “who is this and where was it done”, from a vimeo video which apparently has been posted on one of the Transformers: Dark of the Moon threads we have here -

http://vimeo.com/29745810

Answer –
The Who - http://www.sonypicturespost.com/comp...s/russell.html

The Where ....The Kim Novak Theatre - http://www.sonypictures.com/studio/postprod/feat.htm

The console is a Harrison MPC4-D.

I actually had thought I mentioned all this (before the vimeo video came out) in a prior post months ago along with the insights about the 3D aspect of Tranformers but, if not, here it is again.

Would be interesting to see the full dynamic range soundtrack preserved (the way Disney does both a theatrical and a HT mix), but an impressive EPK nonetheless.

Me wants a hometheatre of that scale...

Good luck with that.

I think most (or, at least many) home theatre enthusiasts chasing the best sound would, for one thing, be much better served (if they desire to have others who watch Blu-ray movies with them to actually experience the same sound as the alpha-positioned listener does) by forking out the dough for at least two subs –

http://www.onhometheater.com/features/20040801.htm

A word of caution though, from personal experience, if your dog watches movies with you and your significant other or invited guests which you have over for the evening, and if your primary home theatre is decked out with 4 subs (even if the sound system has been properly equalized by someone of this calibre.... http://msr-inc.com/about/anthony_grimani.html

- the sound from some Blu-ray movies may tend to confuse or excite your pooch, resulting in said pooch making *his mark* right in front of one of the *offending* subs which has been placed in the back of the room....whilst nobody was watching him because he is 'house-trained' under normal circumstances.

This sounds like there's a story attached to this "warning". What film was it?

Interesting! I can, safely, say that has never happened!
Although my dog(my avatar almost 4 yrs ago) does go right up to the tv whenever we watch Up and Alpha "talks" in the broken, squirrelly voice. It's so funny! He could be sound asleep, in another room, and bound right over when those scenes occur!
I hope repeated viewings are not considered cruelty to animals!

Doggie brown note... kudos.

Just saw LION KING in 3D... spectacular conversion, really beautiful stuff. No doubt many will leave thinking that they didn't go far enough to "warrant" the extra dimension, as if just seeing the damn thing looking that good on a huge screen with fantastic sound wasn't enough.

Ah, well, haters gonna hate...

Peter, you should have attended. You would have had an opportunity to speak with paidgeek, have me blow a vuvuzela in your good ear and, in addition, with your other ear, hear more than one speaker express their happiness with using the Dolby Professional Reference monitor on the job, since I know you’re a big Dolby....as well as Vuvu fan -

I haven’t watched TLK yet but, I have no reason to doubt your assessment(s). So, looking forward to it hopefully when the kids all come over for Thanksgiving.

A film every American, at least ‘of age’ (as it depicts graphic violence) should try to get to see -
http://vimeo.com/28912003

Because as the Director says…”Unless you have a personal connection, the war in Afghanistan is an abstraction”. For those willing to make it more than a mere abstraction and really learn more about what those in the service (as well as their families) sometimes have to endure, both while on active duty and when they return home after being discharged, here’s a review to give you an idea of what the flick is about -

I'm sure the Blu was great, and that your HT approaches the Sony screening rooms, but to see that film again on a real cinema screen was most pleasing.

No, I haven’t seen Armadillo but, as a sad coincidental follow-up to my last post from yesterday, when I returned home and watched Nightly News later that evening, there was a segment describing a recent Pew Research study with surveys which said it all: 8 out of 10 veterans believe the American public has no idea of the problems faced in the service and only 25% of civilians surveyed say they pay any attention at all to the Iraqi/Afgan wars -

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032619/#44793484

I guess the only thing which would focus the public's attention more on the personal sacrifices of service men and women, would be if a ‘draft lottery’ were instituted as was done during the Vietnam era. I bet that would acutely hone the interest of all 20-ish year olds as well as their parents/relatives/spouses/fiancés/etc.

I think you missed the part of the survey of these servicemen/women where they say they also don't believe in a draft.

I think you missed the point.

I never claimed they did. The point is, it seems that it would take something of that personalizing magnitude in order to jolt some peoples’ consciousness into the sacrifices servicemen and women have made…and continue to make.
