The reason I say that (i.e. "race") is because I'll make the question purposely rather easy so that the first person that can type fast enough and possibly google some quotation directory (like imdb) on the internet will win the prize.

If there is a large enough starting field, how does it sound if I post the query at ABOUT 10:00 A.M next Tues.?

Does that meet with the needs of most everyone here who has already shown interest?
Works for me. If I can throw a hoof into the race....

Sounds good to me, but in the interest of fairness maybe you should PM me the question ahead of time and I'll see if it's an okay one to ask.

I don't know if that is worthy of a contest.

Maybe it's early and all you slackers took off work on Friday to go out and play........like moi.
I would certainly be interested if I didn't own it already.

Bring on the Besson I say!

Oh, I know you were being careful. I hope you understand I wasn't trying to correct you; I just thought it was funny the way it came across to me, in light of my understanding of it, and I thought you might appreciate the humor, too, so I shared.

I'm quite familiar with this particular *scientist*. I'm sure I'm not as familiar with him as you are, but I've seen my share BS spewed from his direction. And, from my experience, your characterization (that he doesn't seem capable of presenting anything without an inclusion of overzealous and highly dubious editorial content) seems pretty much spot-on.

While we seem to have the attention of a number of Luc Besson aficionados, can anyone tell me if Le Dernier Combat is worth making an effort to check out?

This is one is very nior. There's barely any dialog or music, and is all B&W. It really shows Besson's darker side.
There's a 50/50 chance you'll like it or hate it.

No he didn't. ARAPnet was around long before he was in office.

Penton, if you can...

Innerspace was recently run on HDNet Movies, which I call the Blu-ray Preview Channel since a LOT of films show up on BD around the same time or soon thereafter they get broadcast there.

Anyway, it clearly showed massive amounts of DNR, and as a Warner title this won't help their reputation. I hope someone here lets the powers-at-be over there know that it desperately needs a new transfer.

Well, I splurged and just didn’t get it fixed but, got all of the crappers in the house replaced with KOHLER models for all you toilet nerds out there.

These things are GREAT!
They flush almost like those toilets they have in 5 star hotels.
The guys are bolting in the last one now.

Yeah, he conveniently left out the fact that The Sand Pebbles streeted on or around the same day as Patton and The Longest Day did………….last year.

I guess that the Fox guy in charge of dnr (to appeal to the PS3 crowd or whatever theory they (AVS) floated at the time) was taking a coffee break during the mastering of The Sand Pebbles and forgot to flip the dnr switch on that title.

P.S.
I just read your quote more carefully, what does Rob T. have to do with this? Please just tell me don't give any link or PM me any link, that *place* already gets too much free press from us.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with that particular movie , what year was it done theatrically?

Good to hear.
Does that make 10 people yet?
For the record, Grover Crisp, Don Eklund and other folks who directly contributed to the making of this fine appearing Blu-ray title do read this thread and forum. For that matter, so do George Feltenstein and Fox people…….read this thread.

So, here’s your guys' chance to push the *I want more ‘classics’ button* by seeing how many people are actually interested in this freebie title via contest. I mean cripes, if a Blu-ray forum this size can't get a measley 10 contestants to sign up for the race..........

I'd be 100% in for a La Femme Nikita contest, except for the fact that I already own it - went out the day of release just for that title. So I certainly wouldn't want to deprive someone else of a copy of this fantastic film. Bring on more Luc Besson (dear god let Léon come out soon), and bring on more catalogue in general.

I'd love to throw my hat in the ring for this. Unfortunately I can't because my work schedule requires frequent travel and time away from computers during the day. not always, but far too often enough.

There are plenty of great catalog titles that have not yet been released. I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who wasn't looking for atleast a few. I'm a fairly young guy and there are a dozen or so I can come up with off the top of my head... I love watching movies for entertainment, surely those who love film have 2 or 3 times that amount.

Innerspace was mid-80s or so, Academy Award winning VFX if I do recall

Though I don't have my copy yet, 2010 MAY repeat MAY be DNR free according to people I know who do.

If it's true, please buy it in droves

As honorable as that is (and I believe that every movie should be treated that way), I just... it's 2010... I can't. The movie is a travesty. Every DNR-free title that's good, believe me, I'm on it! 2010... I can't.

Weird. At the very moment you and Dennis were kibitzing, I was dealing with my own plumber delay...

Unlike you in sunny cali, I'm dealing with a 110+ year old cast iron and lead sewage pipe that's rotting from the inside.

Kinda reminds me of Spike's latest giant tower of foeces.

"Heyy O!"

Secondly, I didn't realize the Stig comment was one of your tests, I thought your were just name dropping another anglophilia bon mot given your proclivities for footie teams like the gunners. You saw, this, right? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/4286...he-answer.html

Anyhoo, you'll be proud of me for mounting my Sanus last night with the help of a vacu-sucking laser level. Speaking of sucking, did you see Spike's latest?

but, I digress...

I wasn't around when Patton was released, given that it's the usual Fox whipping boy/General, are you as agrivated about this title as you RAH was? Or does your billious nature only come out for self-styled internet screencap experts?

Hope the plumber plumbed.

1987.

Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan got together during filming. It's also got Martin Short. Directed by Joe Dante, produced by Steven Spielberg (Amblin) and VFX by Industrial Light & Magic.

You'd probably enjoy it

Anyway, HDNet's transfer had pretty bad DNR, not Longest Day but pretty noticeable.

My copy's arriving next week.

You can't compare it to 2001. It's like comparing Alien to Aliens. 2 different types of films, yet have same characters, ships, etc.
