I asked the same thing on the user who posted that on a different forum I go to. I think you have to be a level 2 subscriber to the site to view i on that sitet.

These trackings are posted by multiple users on that forum in the box office threads for years and they are usually close, but not always and a lot of people believe it because of that. You don't have to take them to seriously they are just tracking numbers. I guess RS is a good source....? Dude, I'm only posting on what I read. That is all.
I was under the impression it isn't released yet. . . . You are talking about Tron legacy right?Maybe I'm misinformed, but how can a movie which hasn't opened yet have a figure on how it will gross on opening weekend? Can someone help me out?

obviously it hasn't been yet...those numbers are just compiled statistics that help gauge opening weekend expectations, that's all...

I don't know of any "Legacy" midnight showings taking place near me as of yet, but will keep an eye out for them as the opening weekend nears. Still, I won't pay anymore than the matinee price to see it.

Is it that important to have to see it opening night? I'd just wait until the next day and get tickets at the local theater, rather than spending the time and money to drive an hour each way...

Cool

Low 30 mil opening weekend? I hope there is a "power surge" on the Solar Sailer beam as the weeks move on. There might be a late start, but the money will come.

I think the problem here is people don't associate Disney with "cool sci-fi". <coff> Black Hole <coff>

Put Riddley Scott's name in there, and maybe perceptions will change. They need to change names in order to have their sci-fi offerings respected.

Oh NO!!! That'd give me even more reason to NOT go . I used to have an admiration for him as a director, until I realized he could never make up his mind as to what he wanted with many of his films. If "Legacy" needs a Director's Cut, or a several-years-post-release alteration, then they can consult with him (as well as Spielberg & Lucas) ... though it would seem to make more sense to go with Lisberger, as it sounds like he's joining in with that crowd of "revisionists" himself, with his supposed subtle "corrections" to the upcoming Blu of the original "Tron."

I think midnight shows have the best crowds. I mean yeah it's all crowded, but most of the time it's people who really want to see the movie and there's a great energy in the theatre.

Just bought my tickets, almost the whole middle is gone already

That makes sense...yeah, for some people, the environment alone can be a big part of the experience.

Disney has been teasing people with footage since Comic-Con 2009. I think it'll do better than $30 mil opening weekend.

Well, they predicted low 30's for Tangled, as well. The film made $69 million by end of Thanksgiving weekend.

The same way you can predict Oscar sweeps for "Black Swan" because "the poster is so cool"...

Or the same way that studios could worry, what if James Cameron lost his shirt on Avatar?--After all, all he had were those fanboys who'd been following every aspect of the marketing for a solid year, but would that translate an actual audience?

(In other words...you just plain old danged guess, and then try to make it look like you were actually being really, really SCIENTIFIC by finding enough other people who also guessed.)

Yeah, but everything else was pretty much spot on. Usually the tracking are close, but once in awhile like Tangled, they are wrong. Eh... it's just tracking, hopefully the tracking for Tron is wrong.

Predictions and trackings don't open movies. Bums in seats does.

No way it doesn't open with at least $50-$60 million. It seems like every 3-D movie that's even halfway marketable makes big bucks. This one has some long-standing hype surrounding it, not to mention how great the 3-D looks.

It sounds awesome. After hearing it I think I am more excited about the soundtrack and how it works in the movie than the actual movie. Just don't know if others will see it the same way. I know a lot of people who hate this style of music.

Honestly, it reminds me of the 1986 Transformers the Movie Soundtrack (Which I obviously love). It too is basically a techno\classical soundtrack all rolled up into one. Which I love.
