Have my reserved 3-D tickets for Saturday morning. Yeah, it might attract the younger crowd with parents, but I think the awesomeness of the visuals will have them all behaving.

Saw it last night. It kinda dragged and it could've been better. But it was great to look at (except it was a strange mix of 2D and 3D) and the soundtrack was Olivia Wilde was really cute in it, Michael Sheen is a scene-stealer, and Cillian Murphy is in it for a minute and that's it.

Overall, Daft Punk

Yeah I was going to say in case people forgot that this movie isn't all 3-D. Only the Tron world is in 3-D

There's going to be alot of boards online and people complaining.

Heh, you know a few posts above your original question I already stated it.... but again, I loved it. I loved the original as well. It's just a fun movie which is what I wanted from it.

I see complaining about the script, but it is just like the original which I have no problem with at all.

When I attended Tron night a few weeks back, in the introduction they said that the real world scenes were meant to be 2D, while the grid would be 3D, and that you are supposed to keep the glasses on the whole time.

I'm getting psyched for tomorrow night. I will be there at midnight!!

I got the 2-disc limited edition soundtrack in today. Sweeeeeeeet!
Outside the extra disc of music, is there anything else in the limited edition? Seems like the $40 price tag at BB is on the high side.

In the new movie, is there any sort of cameo, reference, or something related to the awesome spinning red villain dreidel in the first film?

More importantly, will there be any grid bugs that were missing from the first film???

Nope, that's all. On the official soundtrack website there was a Daft Punk poster included, however it was 1 disc. On the european version of that site, I could not order the 2-disc version for whatever reason. I believe those are the only places where you could get that poster. I bought it from Amazon.uk instead for $35 shipped.

@ Toddly.

[Show spoiler]No sorry, no such links to the original MC. No Grid bugs to speak of, then I wasn't actually looking for em. But there are a few obvious and not so obvious links to the Original Tron and other Disney movies such as "The Black Hole". There is also a blink and you'll miss it cameo by Steven Lisberger [Director of the Original]

I'll likely find a review thread and post my thoughts on the movie there.

Ironically, This is likely the best thread to share my thoughts haha

Saw it today.

Impressed is how I left. Along with a touch of Meh, but only slight. (The Meh award goes to Prince of Persia by a long shot) I'll enclose the rest under the shroud of spoiler tags ^^

I warn I am no pro reviewer

[Show spoiler]Actually as far as story telling goes It was a fun ride. Some early criticisms I read about Tron being somewhat by the numbers?, I didn't actually reflect on until possibly the time that familiar tension sets in and you know the inevitable showdown is about to take place and you are left with a resolution at hand, Which ultimately proves positive for the protagonists.

It is as if there really is no other way to formulate a movie ^^.

You could also say Tron: Legacy has been shaped to the new generation of fans that have had time to digest "The Matrix" in to their fleshy brains, or you could term it "Subconsciousness"

Choreography of the Martial Arts, which was solid is very much in tone to the wonderfully realized sleek visuals. Easily the main reason why people would go to see it and Tron for me scores near full marks in the visual department. Only my nostalgic appreciation of the original's visuals, holds me back from saying full on perfect. I just love the original uniforms etc..From a completely independent approach the visuals are fantastic..

3D is solid. I like the clever mix of 2d to 3d. Initially I did find it a little difficult to orient myself, it was a tad confusing at times. But I also found there to be much less stress on my eyes as opposed to watching Avatar. It also had less colouration issues that Avatar displayed. (now to say I watched both Movies in the same auditorium, which displays 3d with Real D technology )

T:L is one sleek puppy.

But I reckon the positive thing that Tron also has going for it is the Sonic Performance actually enhances the experience for me. I totally dig DAFT PUNK!!!. I see the album has been released here and I'm a grabbin this one .

Interestingly enough Tron pushed the Cinema's sound system to its limits. I reckon If you are planning to see this movie and you are located near a reputable Imax, go for that instead. Some of the sound in Tron was so forceful that the subs had a hard time breathing..Especially with those large guardian things (I forget their names ;( ).

Also at times the environmental effects were hard to distinguish from DAFT PUNK's massive sound..Its not a bad thing, I just couldn't tell whether I was hearing an Engine or DP has kicked a new soundtrack in..Eventually I decided it was Daft Punk's fault and sat back and smiled haha.

Well I guess thats most my thoughts encapsulated here.

The tinge of Meh is hard to explain, It wasn't disappointing for me not what so ever, but I didn't get the emotional ecstatic heights which oddly enough I got while watching HTTYD. Regardless TRON is still top notch visit to the Cinemas and a solid ****/***** stars from me. I love Olivia.

Funny thing I noted. The audience I saw the movie with wasn't large at all. Majority actually where a good 8-10 years older than my "half past 30 cycles" on this planet and 90% male *cough*. And they ALL laughed in contempt when the promo for Justin Beiber's new movie played in the trailers...Secretly I was enjoying the mean subwoofer action haha.

take care, fellow Blu-Ray Fans.

How does the 3D of Tron compare to the 3D of avatar? I understand that the entire movie is not 3D.

I spoke about this in my last post. But suffice to say Tron is much easier on the eye. The mix of 2-3d is nice. I saw Avatar 3 times and each time I felt nauseous in the first 10-15 minutes. At no time during Tron did I feel stressed, nor did I spot any issues with colour.

The only thing of note that I did pick up was some of the perspective shots had fast movement and trying to work out depth was at times a little tricky. For the most part though the digital environment was beautifully realized, and really solid. What Avatar had over Tron was the wonderful little touches that really impressed. Such as the ash after Hometree collapses for instance or the lovely floaty fairy things. Tron is more minimalist by comparison. I did count one hookshot that I had to dodge ..

Tron is 3d done right and Vastly Superior to the 3d that the Justin Beiber trailer offered. That image never sat right for me.

IMHO better than Alice/Toy Story (edit I do realize Alice was a 2d conversion, so perhaps not an accurate comparison)

And to add prior to Tron commencing there is in fact a message that states that the movie was shot both in 2d and 3d, please leave the glasses on for the entire duration of the movie haha
