This is supposed to be the best 3D movie this year. I hope and pray that when it's released on 3D blu-ray it will not be tied up as an exclusive bundle for a year and a half.

For the longest while, I thought Hans Zimmer had the best score with Inception.

Not so after hearing Daft Punk's Tron Legacy score. It's very, very important to the over aesthetic of the film. Frankly, it's just pure badass.

Tron Legacy was pretty good. All the complaints about the acting was unjust, as everyone was fine, the dialogue a bit clunky at times, but the story was easy to understand. I have to question the attention span of those who claim the story is so hard to follow. The visuals were great, but I don't believe the 3D was as good as Avatar's. The action could have been better too. Michael Sheen said screw it and went full flaming queen with his character which was funny. The CGI on the young Bridges was good in the darker scenes, but noticeable when it was right in the light. Overall it didn't bother me. Olivia Wilde and the all white girl Gem were extremely sexy.

I liked the couple of homages to the original, and there's a cameo in the film that relates to a character in the first one that I guess is a seed for a potential villain in a possible sequel. Although the story doesn't sequel bait.

For 9:30 in the morning IMAX it was packed. Every show after was sold out too.

I sort of feel the same

Just watched a 3D screening here in Norway and Tron delivers from start to finish.

I liked the fact that real-world was 2D, but it felt more like 80% 3D (even if it actually was less).

Best movie of 2010 hands down, cant wait to get this on Blu.

Kick Ass won't be nominated. Frankly, the score isn't good enough for a nomination.

When we first see him in the club, I was going to do a "Best 80's callback" joke about his dead-on imitation of David Bowie's 80's film-actor career--Almost made me want to go watch Labyrinth again. (Almost. )
Until the panicky scenes with Clu , where he thought he was doing Jack Sparrow.

Reportedly it went through a rewrite, back when Disney had the Pixar writers in to fix the Muppet movie, and said, "Say, think you could give the Tron script a last-minute look over?"

One glaring omission is that the original Encom villain/jerk that was hyped up at Disney's virtual-Encom site, is completely removed from the script, now replaced by a new jerk-CEO, and....Ed Dillinger, Jr.
(The latter being an obvious shoutout to fanboys who kept asking whether David Warner would be coming back--Quit hiding, you know who you are.)
I'm guessing Sam's viral parachute jump into the Space Paranoids announcement was originally part of the story, and was since rewritten for the new version. But as for the new addition, I expect the writers left themselves an opening for a new antagonist

As for the mixed reviews, one critic tried to be cute by comparing it to Speed Racer, and that was my worry:
I'm one of the ones who liked Speed Racer for knowing what it was doing, but the slaughter of bad reviews it got were of the "Huh?--It looks pretty but what's going on?...It makes my brain hurt!" variety from people who were going on trailer-flash but had never seen the original source in their lives, and punished the storyline for that. (Even Roger Ebert, one of the staunchest defenders of the original 1982 Tron, claims he couldn't figure out the story, but then, he admits he couldn't figure out the original's story either.)

...Thus the good and bad of Disney hiding the original.
If you want to like this movie, DO YOUR HOMEWORK--Yes, I know it's not exactly easy right now, but make a good try. It won't be handed to you on a plate.

(As for other original-movie easter-eggs: Did anyone notice that Sam's cool garage-digs had a faded "Dumont" sign?....If so, it may be possible that Flynn Jr. bought one of the garages where Barnard Hughes built the first Encom computer. )

I watched it, sort of disappointed, but enjoyed it enough so it wasn't a waste of time.

Did anyone else sing along to Sweet Dreams in Flynn's Arcade or was it only my friend and I?

Is this the review thread or is there another?

It was awesomeeeeeeeeeee. The action, visuals, fx and the score were incredible. Yes, the story, writing and acting aren't perfect but it didn't bother me. I went to this movie to be entertained and wowed and that is exactly what happened. Im going to see The Fighter later and will find those things there but here was just an awesome time so much cool stuff it was really sick!!!

Here's what happened to me. On Amazon's US website, I pre-ordered it but then I got an e-mail about a week later saying they won't have it in. So, I went to their UK website and pre-ordered it from there. However, now it's out-of-stock, but there are a few sellers offering it. I just ordered my 2nd copy from one of them.

Even at the Parks, Disney's been using the Journey song trying to establish "80's" (and "Separate Ways" for thematic motif--okay, who's going to admit to singing along with THAT? ), but am I the only one who thought "...So, Journey wrote a soundtrack song for the original movie, and you're not even going to use THAT?? "

I did the exact same thing as well.

ANd also this movie was great i attended the midnight show and abs loved it. Everything about it including the soundtrack of course. Bottomline is people that are talking bad about this movie either dont even know the storyline behind Tron or not even attempted to watch the 1st and think they can just dive in and understand and left watching 2 hours of what is happening instead of 2 hours of awesomeness.LOL

Just like TRON 1 it took me 2 viewings to fully pick up everything and maybe even a 3rd id figure out even more but just like the 1st film i need to see TRON LEGACY again to fully pick up the loose ends but i will go see after i complete the game TRON EVOLUTION that basically tells everything that happen from the time the 1st end up until TRON LEGACY

Just like the above mentioned you have to do some homework on this one if you wanna be fully commited and understand how great this storyline really is.

Tron Evolution was bad but I enjoyed Tron Legacy. Especially the music. I can't remember any recent movie where the soundtrack took center stage over everything else. It was loud and it was rocking.

Also the scene when Sam breaks into Encom, his father did the same thing at the same door in the original. He even says the same line: "now that's a big door."

Also in Flynn's apartment in The Grid, those two objects on the mantel were the "yes" and "no" responses of that sprite type thing Flynn dealt with when he was flying that ship in the first movie.

Regarding Quorra coming to the real world, I viewed it sort of like Virtuosity, when SID came out. Sam is a lucky man
