Yeah, the Kevin Flynn character in TRON: Legacy is most certainly the same guy from the original (although he's Flynn after being trapped in The Grid for hundreds of years). People comparing him to The Dude either haven't seen the original Tron or just plain don't remember it.

Saw it, strengths were the soundtrack and the special effects, story was a mess...and while I enjoyed myself, I can honestly say I will never watch it again...would really like the original on Blu-ray now (because I will watch that many, many more times)...

Don't know, still seems more like "The Dude" than the old Flynn to me.

Either way, the footage on youtube looks fantastic.

I have a great idea for a sequel, but apparently that will be hard to fly. They made too many cost cutting decisions in the talent, so now there may be no saving Tron.

[Show spoiler]Tron changed color in the water, so he converted back to his old self. I presume everything and everyone was wiped out when Flynn blew up like a fireworks display. TRON being under water apparently survived.

But with that premise, the world needs to be rebuilt. Probably with TRON in command.

There are a lot of "what happened to's" and "what' if's" in this film. I just wish they gave us the good stuff this film and not stretch it out into another film. The next movie may never get made with the mixed reaction we are getting. There is no "happily ever after" with Legacy.

I would have preferred if this film had more closure. One great film would have been better than two so-so films.

Sorry, not sure if I made myself clear in my post - I was saying that I felt the new Tron had traces of the Dude, while the old Tron did not (even though some feel he was like that in the old Tron).

And watching the old footage only confirmed to me that he didn't used to speak in that hippy kind of way.

It wasn't a huge deal, but just seemed out of place in the film.

Still a solid 4 from me.

The first film was horrible so I went in with this film expecting nothing spectacular but I did at least expect an improvement from TRON. However, Legacy is like a second draft to an essay in which it fixes some issues but overall still has the same issues that were found in the first draft. Of course the film looks spectacular it was great to see everything from the first film given that 21st century look with new things here and there. The soundtrack was great as expected Daft Punk did a fantastic job of setting the mood but when it comes down to it the looks were not enough to overcome the horrid story.

Legacy suffered the same issue that the first film had in which it had a great opening and a great first act but once

The second act was slow and boring

[Show spoiler]while I loved the backstory the Kevin gave to Sam about his disappearance

there just was not enough to keep my attention. The action while cool got rather boring, they should have had more hand to hand combat or something more exciting like when

but it got tedious. Maybe if they did more with

[Show spoiler]TRON rather than have him become faceless and maybe have a showdown with him and Kevin or Sam to help nudge him back in the right direction

it would have added more weight to the story.

I can honestly keep writing but overall it isn't a horrible film but it isn't a great film. I think Disney missed an opportunity to make this franchise become something big.

About 45 mins. ago, after trying MovieTickets.com & the theater chain's site itself (National Amusements), both for over a week, the MOVIETICKETS.COM site Finally worked.

Since LAST Monday or Tuesday, Both sites had the same msg. when I clicked on the date for Weds., 12/22/10: "Showtimes have Not Yet been posted for 12/22/10". When Before, I've NEVER had a problem getting/ordering tickets Ahead of time Online (mainly for when I go see movies in IMAX, so I can be assured of getting seats where "I" want them: Dead Center, Last Row).

Anyway, showtime is 12:15pm Weds., so just under 11 hours away!! Def. looking forward to this. Massive IMAX Screen, 12,000 Watts of Digital Sound, LFE Heaven, & hopefully I don't have to get up out of my seat once or twice to yell at some Idiot(s) with their freakin' Cell Phone on!!

But, If need be, I WILL do exactly that.

As I have to agree with the soundtrack and visual affects being it's strong points. I will not be watching this one ever again. Yes, the story was a mess- it was all over the place. I think the 3D was cool for the first 30 minutes and then it was kind of annoying. I got really bored during this movie..

Yea, I thought it was pretty straight forward.

I still can't comprehend at all how people were confused to the point we needed that interview that was linked to spoon-feed information.

To all those saying it is only worth seeing once, I enjoyed this movie so much more my second viewing.

What a terrible movie.

From start to finish it is pure boredom, The acting is amazingly bad, Especially From Bridges.

The story is, I don't even have a word for it.

I wish there was some way to recoup the time wasted on this awful movie.

Good LORD, do I ever Luuuvvv' going to see a movie in IMAX!! MASSIVELY HUGE Screen, Tremendous Digital Audio System with 12,000 Watts of Outrageous & Thunderous - yet Clear - Flat-Out POWER! To get anywhere Near comparable in most of our HT's, we'd need 2-4 eD Subs, & whatever configuration of 7.2/7.4 set-ups, with the Audio set at Deafening!

Oh wait - Yea, this is supposed to be about TRON: Legacy in IMAX 3D.

Well, the movie was pretty good itself, the story was kind of hard to follow along in parts, but perhaps that was due to me being a tad sleepy going in, and/or not having seen the Original "TRON" in over 20+ years (if at all ). I'll prob. have to see this again to be honest. It definitely has some of the most interesting & cool Visuals, & via an on-screen prompt Just before the movie starts, the movie is in "3D" but many scenes are in 2D (but to leave your glasses on regardless). The 3D parts were pretty good, not mind-blowing or (IMO) as good as those in AVATAR. Mainly, the 3D sequences are for the Action parts, or (via the trailers we've prob. all seen by now), when their racing around in the "Grid." The 3D in those sections Was very impressive.

Thank goodness this is a Disney release, as we Know we'll be getting a Top-Notch presentation on Blu-Ray. I'm sure they'll have Many behind-the-scenes features, including how they De-Aged Jeff Bridges

[Show spoiler](Semi-Spoiler alert: Via "Motion-Capture", the same process used with the cast in Avatar. He's been on many talk shows recently & has said as much, so it's not really a Spoiler in relation to the Movie itself.)

That said, seeing him "Younger", looks kind of realistic but not 100%. Which, to me, is purposeful for his "character" in TRON: Legacy.

[Show spoiler]Is TRON a good guy or bad guy? Will Bridges' younger son, now grownup & 27, be able to accomplish his task once he is in the world that is Tron? Well, you'll just have to see the movie to answer that.

Will we get the inevitable Sequel to tie up the proverbial "Loose Ends?" Probably.

Good one.

As noted above, I enjoyed it, the story was Okay/decent & the action/3D sequences were prob. the Best part (along with the Killer IMAX Audio system!). Plus, I thought the young guy playing his Son was pretty good. Not "Great", pretty good overall.
