At Otakon, back when we were doing in-house 35mm projection, we had Panavision providing our projection services, and highly trained, pro projectionists. We'd put out piles of cash to set up a THX certified theater (we met the published specs) for the weekend. Nowadays we do a top-end digital projection because getting prints of anime or Japanese films to show is a painful process, and there's nothing new. This way people can pull stuff right off the edit bay and bring it in.

BTW, Peter, the cover you posted was to the album I was referring to above (the bolded sentence).

As for Penton, I'm not sharkshark, and this isn't Shania, but perhaps you'll enjoy it:

And if Penton's annoyed by that video, this Shania video was the first that I saw from her and still in many ways is my favorite:

If so, ask him to e-mail the screenshot link with the above comments to Ned so that AVS home theater enthusiasts can get a *non-DNR’ed* Blu-ray edition this or next year and they (the screenshot scientists) can all proudly proclaim “we got what the Blu-ray should have looked like when released in 2009”.

My problem is that by RAH publicly endorsing these online idiots, in the long run, he does far, FAR greater harm than good to home theater enthusiasts.
Point taken - I can see that you are worried about the big picture and you certainly got a point there. And it is my impression, and I might be completely and utterly wrong, that RAH likes to stir things up from time to time. He definitely has succeeded if that was his intention!

And btw: I think that slight DNR is not something that can be seen as easily in screnshots as fat halos if at all so I would not regard that as a case where screenshots would be very helpful, but that is just my opinion

edit: I do not want to give the impression that I think there is objectable DNR in North by Northwest as I have not even watched it yet - so many Blu-Rays so little time...

Sadly, that video's been on my mind a lot lately as someone I know (of a portly nature) has been embracing "midriff-baring" as a fashion statement. I rather wish he wouldn't...

I think getting Michael Pogorzelski is better than getting Michale Moore trying to storm a (union-run) projection booth at the TIFF midnight madness world Premiere of Borat, but I'm funny that way...

I don't really want a large and heavy rear projection screen TV. I was just looking for something modest in size that could be moved to a bedroom several months from now when I buy the real replacement for my stolen 52" display. A sub-$1000 TV set is not quite so difficult to sell either. Actually I already have a couple of potential offers from local friends.

Luckily I took my EOS 5D Mark II and L-series lenses over to the friend's house where I was staying during the blackout. I was worried about water condensation developing inside the lenses from being in the cold for days on end. Maybe I was just being paranoid, but it's a good thing I took that gear as well as my notebook PC and external hard discs.

The thieves did get some old coins and some rings, including my high school class ring. Strangely they left my School of Visual Arts college ring behind (probably dropped it while scooping stuff out of dresser drawers).

I think those jerks probably took only what they could carry to a waiting vehicle. A lot of other things were left untouched.

Shark, you got the wrong Michael.
Scroll down to “The Matinee Idol: a not-so-silent restoration”
http://cache.zoominfo.com/CachedPage...astName=Friend

It’s always good to have a ‘friend’ in the projectionist booth.
Last Blu-ray I purchased?
Most appropriately, it was The Last Waltz, around about the time it streeted back in the early days of the Blu-ray format, none were left in the office and I had to scramble to get one (purchase the dang thing) because friends were coming over to my humble abode that weekend to watch it at Penton’s Place.

P.S.
Hell, it worked!
You don't have to scroll down. I think I am now computer literate.

Well, Jeff, considering it is FINALLY an ‘Official’ Digital Bits rumor,
https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=4141

you no longer need to play coy or imitate “a fox” like I said several days ago.

Which reminds me.
Where’s Esox (with one “s”).

I’m just leaving the office now (after 8:00 P.M.) while you're probably all comfy with your feet propped up in front of a fire.
