I hereby require one less ridiculous hint, since I'm now trying to find two films here...

ps. I don't know why I had it in my head that 12 Monkeys was 1991. This was a Hitch-related flick that I thought of from that era (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Kiss_Before_Dying) but there's no way it's that...

There were a few in the provisional England squad, but only because nobody expected Capello to name any youngsters. Other than that, I haven't really kept up, either, because I'm just not that into the international game.

You're leaping to some conclusions here:

1. That I want you to find out the answer. ---

2. That you're wrong about anything but titles. ---

3. That I can't stop with the Smilies. ---

World cup, finest competion in footie. Better than you guys going on all the time about motorized bicycles (I say as I watch BBC feed of 2nd Practice from Monaco).

Doc, throw the shark a bone here... There were hundreds of films in 1991, at least let me know approximate gross so that I can narrow it down.

ps. excellent image

At least when wrestling came up, that's more relevant as it requires acting, stunt skills, atheticism, improvisational skills. It's a total package that very few possess (and The Rock is pretty much the only guy who ever was able to ride both sides of the fence well)

Soccer could be so much more exciting with (non-lethal) snipers, pop up traps, catapults and other items to make the game more interesting

Merrick, I dug out my old edition of Lehninger (Navy blue cover).

Stacey, you need another RedOne.

This motion picture was shot stereoscopically utilizing a 3D camera rig containing two Reds….

Or, it could be more exciting with people who know how to watch it.

I'm "kidding on the square" (to abuse an Al Franken coinage), though, because I just have to laugh at the incredible amount of "soccer is boring" attitude from Americans. I'm not saying "How dare you impugn my sport!" I don't think my sport is better than anyone else's (for anyone but me); my feeling is "like what you like". However, while I can understand so many other criticisms of soccer, I just don't see how anyone can, with any effort toward objectivity, call it "boring".

It takes less than two hours to watch a soccer game and, in that time, you get an hour and a half of nearly non-stop action.

It takes about three and a half hours to watch an American football game and, in that time, you get one hour of action laced into footage of guys towelling off and talking on the phone.

And have you ever tried to watch golf? Or Nascar?!

Well, I'm pretty sure Triumph would poop on a game where a score of 0-0 is "a real slugfest".

PS: That was at the Zigfeld in NYC. I actually saw Episode III there opening day in 2005, Dolby Digital Cinema. It was pretty awesome. And we were disappointed Triumph was nowhere to be found.

Instead of waiting in line, we did this in about 4 weeks, just for fun

http://www.theforce.net/fanfilms/sho...wars/index.asp

I did all of the compositing, prop construction and FX on a single Pentium 166 with 256MB of RAM So yeah, it's a bit slapped together, but it was fun anyway

Saw People vs George Lucas at HotDocs this year... It's not bad, not amazing... A fairly decent timecapsule of the types of crap that I've been seeing discussed on SW fan boards for over a decade now.

I wore a Jar Jar shirt to the screening...

Oh, and Jeff, I'd actually seen your film, freakishly.

I was in the Toronto line at the (beloved) York - for Ep1 I actually saw it 8 times on opening day (midnight/3am/6am/9am/noon/3pm/6pm/9:30pm). It was an experience.

For EpII I blew $1k to see it with Hayden at a charity screening. For EpIII we made it down to Indy for Celebration III, where I won this (http://www.celebrationvader.com)

Sad, but true...

ps. The York's final screening before it turned into a health club was LoA in 70mm. I got to fondle the print. It was sublime.

EpII played in digital here, and I saw it on one of the older HD res projectors. When I went to NYC I saw it again, and had prepared my friend for some of the limitations (jaggies on some of the right angled elements, like the flaps on the bottom of Obi-Wan's ship coming off the hyperspace ring, the title text, etc.) When the screening at the Ziegfeld started up, I was, like, "woah...."

The only decent 2k projector around here was all the way in Kitchener, so to re-see it I'd schlepp the hour west to catch it there. Now, of course, we've got a number of decent digital screens, but a surprising number are still the old crappy kind.

Plus, I think I mentioned this before, Imax didn't have the balls to pull a "digital Imax" BS in their hometown - our AMC does have a very good screen/projector setup at a premium price, well worth the upgrade in this case, but it's not called "Imax".

I keep hoping that we'll start getting 70mm films back at Cinesphere (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinesphere) but I'm not holding my breath...

...yup (well, Lucasfilm, but whatever...), and Rubio is absolutely a highlight of the doc.

Since when was goalscoring the only exciting or interesting thing in sports? An effective defense can be a spectacular sight and some of the better 0-0 games are like watching an action movie and a twisty political thriller at the same time. At the opposite end of the spectrum is basketball. Again, an entertaining watch, but really, how much can a scoreline of 98-101 tell you about which is the better team?
