Well, suffice to say that if they use all of Blackmagic’s products the sharpening aka *digital enhancement* wasn’t done with the Ultrascope combination card and software package demonstrated in that pic that sharkshark posted a few pages back –

but rather, something more sophisticated like Blackmagic's DaVinci Resolve, which was used on Ridley’s Robin Hood.

They're playing well enough that I think they'll beat Uruguay and it'll be a Germany vs. Netherlands final. Both of those teams seem to be playing very well as a unit, more so than the two other teams left.

Not a dumb bet, but I still feel Spain just might pull it off (they're certainly the underdogs given how Germany has looked the last 2 matches).

As above, I think any team could legitimately win (ie, attack to win, rather than wait it out and try to weasel a goal... A noble way to play the game, but not the way any of these 4 will play)

Neth over Uruguay 3-1, Spain over Germany 2-1, Spain over Neth 1-0. There, I've predicted, predictions that, predictably, will be wrong.

I agree...Neth will beat Uruguay, but I think Germany wins it all....you can't teach speed

Well, I’m very wary of any team that can knock Brazil out of the World Cup, esp. a Dunga coached team, if you remember him from back during his playing days.

Well, just in case KubrickFan (who is from the Netherlands) didn’t catch the irony of your quote, it might be best at this point for me to post something clearly positive about the Dutch of whom I’ve said before, I envy/admire for their enthusiasm and support they give their athletes in any sport, not just soccer.

Give me a moment to think of a non-sport compliment to the Dutch, with some kind of tie-in.

^ the EYE Film Institute Netherlands (a.k.a. the Nederlands Filmmuseum) has a well respected head curator by the name of Giovanna Fossati . They do fabulous work and in this particular case in collaboration with laboratory staff at Haghefilm. Giovanna does the honors...

^ A must watch for folks interested in the effects of unmonitored automated scratch removal tools..for, if they can make the head of a dog disappear (which is shown somewhere later on in the clip), then surely getting rid of measly arrows flying thru the air is child’s play.

They put chocolate sprinkles on toast, and have crafted pancakes that are the envy of the world... what else do they need to show they're a world class place?

I must admit, that's one thing I never did see in the De Wallen district of Amsterdam back in my youth when I was doing "research".

Interesting article on the Germany vs. Spain match from the German perspective.

BTW, does anyone still have a link for the soccer video of how the future of the world turns on a kick? That is, for each kick made or lost, each goal made or or lost, we get an imagined sample of the future (raging parties or destitution for all involved).

I've looked back through the last 37 pages, but cannot spot the link.

Thanks in advance.

It's a quote from the last Austin Powers movie, Michael Caine as Nigel Powers (Austin's father).

I figured it was in some movie like that but, I didn’t want KubrickFan to get the wrong impression, just in case there was some sort of language barrier.

Well, I see that Vincent already enlightened you in regards to comparing it to Dirty Harry.

Nevertheless, the Blu-ray 1st version vs. 2nd version issues aside, which have by now, probably been beaten well into the ground with nobody convincing anyone else of their point of view, come two weeks or so, I’ll be meeting with someone intimately involved in the production of Predator (no, I’m not a Fox executive) regarding an entirely different matter, who may be able to provide more technical specificity to that vagueness.

In the pursuit of learning more about real world filmmaking, I’ll let you know the result of our discussion.
