Excellent stuff, no doubt, but "Wahoo- killin'!" is still a questionable sentiment, regardless of justification, necessity or gratitude.

Hey Penton Man,

Which star was it that volunteered to go ahead and film? Oh by the way, do you know if there is another Pirates sequel coming down the pike?

Thanks

Is anyone familiar with the "Uncut Version" of Heavenly Creatures that appears to be the only cut we're getting on the upcoming Blu-ray? I have a little anxiety about purchasing a cut I've never seen and really wish the theatrical cut was being included, as well.

I haven’t kept up with that thru Mouse House colleagues and thusly, I know no more than the typical movie fan, which is probably best summed up by the guarded remarks given by Jerry during this past news conference in Bev Hills…

If you’re looking for some cutting edge information, I’m told that Jerry (or whoever manages his twitter page) can be quite forthcoming in revealing news-worthy things from time-to-time, so you may catch some breaking news about POTC 5 & 6 over the next few months by following him here…
http://twitter.com/#!/BRUCKHEIMERJB

One thing though which he never did reveal about POTC 4 (probably for the same reason as Michael Bay didn’t speak about it in regards to the latest Transformers movie) is the whys and wherefores of the 2D ->3D converted material it contains, though it be rather tiny in comparison to that of Transformers: Dark of the Moon and about only half the amount as that which was of a converted nature in AVATAR….in other words only about 15 – 20 scenes in POTC 4 were 2D -> 3D converted. Namely, the shots which were pre-planned to be 2D -> 3D converted were those captured at very remote locations as well as the underwater footage. Those shots unexpectedly needing to be 2D ->3D converted involved the chase through the streets of London (due to a bouncing mirror) and one set-up with a malfunctioning genlock.

But the greatest thing for me personally about the whole POTC franchise is that I’m dressing up like a Pirate (and my wife like a Lady Pirate) for this upcoming Halloween and I’m hoping to successfully persuade her to try out on me some of these Top Ten Pickup Lines (near the bottom of the page) for the Lady Pirates after the party…

Doc, you take some things which people post, waaay too seriously and/or literally. Can’t resist the tie-in though , all things considered with Kris Deering onboard and also that I’m a graduate of “The University”

Too easy, man.

I’m waiting a little while longer to see if anyone other than Rick has the cojones to offer up another guess…esp. the older guys who may be more familiar with these actors, ole geezer, cjamescook, JimSD? It really shouldn’t be that difficult to figure out because in real life too, he was undeniably a tough guy also…at least in his younger years.

He actually purchased real property on Rhodes during the principal photography of The Guns of Navarone.

I still get credit for being ˝ right!
Heck, now it's down to 4 possible answers! So the next contestant will have, at least, a 25% chance vs. my 20%!

Who was it of the all-star cast that unhesitatingly stepped forward, took the lead and volunteered to the Director that he would personally do the scene and that a stunt man would not be required to double for him…after which thee other actors similarly followed suit (albeit, one still reluctantly). Who was that daredevil in The Guns of Navarone?...Gregory Peck, James Darren, Anthony Quinn, Anthony Quayle, Stanley Baker, David Niven?
I'll go with James Darren for no other reason than he's the youngest of the lot.

Love these behind the scenes tidbits... Penton. It must be fun to talk shop with older film crew members... if that's the case.

Hey, I know who those actors are-- I'm a classic film fan
If you're talking about toughness my guess would be Anthony Quinn for sure. Thanks by the way for answering my question.

Yeah, my first guess was Anthony Quinn also, though I don't recognize all the names. Not surprised David Niven was the most reluctant (still a fan, just... not surprised).

Yeah I personally think David Niven is a very good actor, but maybe that's why in the film he seemed very worried about the ship's integrity.

Seriously. Doc, don't take it the wrong way. That picture just reminded me of the emoticon that Penton had put up. I certainly am not a fan of violence in any form, which is why I worked on the deterrent side of the house (submarines) rather than the offensive side. But I am glad that our military is extremely capable at their job when it is needed.

Amen! Freedom isn't always free, and sometimes comes at a very high price!

As a wise man once said, freedom costs a buck-o-five.
