Attention 3D aficionados (and 2D photochemical archivists who struggle with basic 3D concepts and appreciation ), there is now a guide available for download, see…
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...=1#post5823856

that expounds upon a variety of aspects contributing to the 3D domain which I’ve touched on, from time to time, in the past on this thread, such as the important role of stereographers, ‘depth budgets’ and even esoteric things like the significance of specular highlights, etc.

Doc, this ^ was not a rhetorical question. Do you, or does anyone for that matter, know how much money the ownership stands to lose for not qualifying for the Champions league? I’ve heard various estimates but I think there is really a finite sum.

Sorry- I thought it was.

I can't back the veracity of my figures, either, but direct-costs-wise, if I'm remembering correctly, I always hear 30 million Euro as the figure for simple league participation/tv rights split. I know there are direct payment bonuses on top of that for each further stage of the competition, but I don't recall the numbers. I want to say they range from 2 to 10 million more per round. And I think winning the thing drops another 20 million or so on you. It's been a couple years since I saw this stuff, so someone please correct me.

Of course, the 'player attraction' costs and the brand-value impact are tougher to measure.

Hey Penton,

The wife and I watched Take Shelter last night, great film. Very eerie and it made me uncomfortable almost the whole way through, which I loved!! The transfer looked good but I notice some obvious inconsistencies. Even my wife pointed them out. The scene in particular is the scene that actually has a screen shot in the review here, when he sees the birds spiraling. Whenever it cut to him it looked very soft, almost out of focus, and very noisy, but when it cut to the birds it looked fine. I see this sort of thing with effects shots that have been layered, but in this case the scene that looked wrong was the one with no effects added. Any ideas on this?

Nothing in life is truly perfect…including principal photography.

Attention mhafner
Vis-a vie a PM I just received, as to being alerted to your query about ghosting in the Hugo 3D Blu-ray as posted on AVS and then cross-linked to this forum. For Ghosting 101…see the guide I posted above and use the search word ‘ghost’ and carefully read the entire document.

Pay particular attention to the paragraph as to how a producer/filmmaker can avoid it during principal photography….keeping in mind eventual home media exhibition. The artifact, to a degree, also showed up in theatrical presentation, as Kris noted…https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ng#post5698828

P.S.
Epstein (from HTF) you also may want to read the pertinent information in the Guide if you plan on doing any more 3D reviews and are still confused as to its origin.

Think your looking for this one.

Stopped watching footie. My nerves just could not take it anymore. Always felt like doing this to people afterward.

Which of course is NOT a good thing.

I have little sympathy for you Canadian Arsenal supporters.

You get other perks in life. I was watching the national news a few days ago and they said someone did a survey as to which nationality, Americans would most be wanting to invite over for dinner and a good conversation.

Apparently, Canadians won hands down.

Yeah, but the last time I heard about a survey like that one, Americans wanted to have a beer with George W. Bush...

Well, last week, while I was at the Retreat, they had the world premier for Act of Valor in Hollywood which I would have loved to attend but, couldn’t because of the conflict. I heard it was quite unique as the red carpet was replaced with Navy Blue and Seals parachuted in before the screening! I was passed this clip – http://vimeo.com/36921623

In light of the 3D post above, I received a couple of PMs as to the meaning of the word ‘crosstalk’ vs. that of ‘ghosting’. It’s defined in the online guide linked above. If, due to its length, some find that a tedious read, I essentially answered the query in the P.S. from almost a year ago, here….

Well, politics aside, lest us invoke the wrath of Super Pac contributors who are reading this thread,

No rebuttal from our Canadian membership? Or are they all too busy eating free home cooking in our U.S. homes ? Doc, I’m rather envious of our neighbors up north.

Interesting. I plan on seeing this after my next sub cruise, which will be on the USS MISSOURI SSN 780, which is one of our newest Virginia attack submarines. I've had some brief dealings with the SEALS during my time in the Navy, I worked in special projects for quite some time and had some time to chat at some spec war consortiums. Great bunch of guys. I can only imagine the level of commitment and honor it takes to do their job. I hope this new film does a lot to promote just what it means to serve in that elite group, and help recruitment for future SEALS.

Indeed, well said.

And I hope this SEALS raid motion picture also does well for all the noble reasons which you’ve mentioned above, as well as at the box office ….http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/f...-in-India.html

Yes, we should all concentrate on a common enemy:

The anti-Blu company Apple and their cult, I mean buyers.
