I am guilty of following TT with enthusiasm and interest though because they've really marched to a different drummer with their catalogue...for me, personally, managing to nail some of my all time fave movies (and scores) and doing a bang-up job preserving both with ace quality. Just a hobby/collector interest for this vet movie schlub... ![]() |

P. S. anthonyls I have been thanked by Nick Redman (Twilight Time) on a few occasions for a particularly interesting or funny post...as others here have been via PMs from time to time. Funny guy himself...wish he would post more...but he has this demanding little business to run, ya know?

Literally had Body Double in my cart as I searched through a couple of soundtracks (to get more value for s/h) and when I loaded my cart it was missing (and sold out). FTW. Make that FTT. I'm done with their BS 3000 LEs (and 3 per customer allowance-should be one from the get go). Long live Shout Factory, with their excellent, reasonable-priced releases.
The wait for a Body Double import begins. Maybe it'll have bonus features not re-purposed from a DVD. |

It won't. Sony doesn't license films out in the UK, so if anyone released it overseas it would be Sony, and they would, of course, just port their own DVD extras.

Last I checked, it's still available via TCM's webstore. Doubt much longer...

I'm glad I put my order in before I left the house, I was going to do it later but I would have missed out otherwise.

yeah, I pretty much agree.
also, i would like to add, even if these are limited editions of 3000 why do they remain in the same price until they are sold out?? I mean, in limited editions of soundtracks (from lalaland eg.), sometimes we get better price when they're on sale. And they ARE limited editions (of either 2000 or 3000 etc.) If they do that ( put on sale their titles in a certain month or something -maybe around Christmas), I'm sure those which are still in print, would sell out much sooner. I agree. Most of the issues raised are out of TT's control, anyway. The one aspect of their releases that is somewhat irksome is the fact that certain titles are purchased by speculators who are simply buying them to resell at a profit. The initial reaction to this is to think that SAE should place a limit of one copy to a customer on EVERY title, to combat this practice. But even that's problematic. What if someone wants to order 3 or 4 copies of a particular film to give as gifts? Or if friends want to go in on an order together to save $ on shipping? There are many reasons why ordering more than one copy of a disc is perfectly legitimate, with no thought of making a profit. It puts them in a tough position trying to figure out ahead of time what titles should have a limit placed on them, knowing they will still sell out eventually. After all, the goal here IS to sell these discs! The comment about offering nothing but "nice booklets and isolated scores" made me laugh, as well. How many releases do we see from various labels with absolutely NOTHING offered at all? Other than a legit fan of a movie being unable to buy a copy, because some greedy s.o.b. bought 10 copies before he or she had a chance to order one, it's hard to find anything bad to say about what TT is doing. I'd agree with that if their Blu-ray prices were $10 cheaper. $30 + p&p (particularly if someone from outside the US is importing a title) is little too high for what you get compared to many other small/independent companies.

If you strip away the limited print of their titles, most of them would barely even warrant a price of $15, or even $10 in some cases. If the issues with NotLD were blatantly known ahead of time that title wouldn't have sold hardly anything had it not been limited and would have ended up in a $5 bin somewhere. At the very, VERY least, they should offer 50% off sales or something if a title goes for a period of time without selling out.

Personally I don't care who releases what, as long as it gets released. I really like that TT, Olive, Shout/Scream are going after whatever they can get their hands on, since it seems that the majors have been really dropping the ball lately, you listening WB. |
