I think the Harryhausen movies have a strong niche fan base and will sell out. Mysterious Island may have taken 8 months or so but the fact is it DID sell out. These Sinbads will take less time to sell out. If they do wind up selling "The Three Worlds of Gulliver" and "First Men in the Moon" (and maybe "One Million Years, B.C.") they will sell out as well. With the 3,000 copy limit I'm sure they're happy to have any title sell out which bodes well for those three Harryhausens still out there that they can market on blu-ray.

Another thing that is contributing to a faster-than-previous sell out of the Harryhausen films that I don't think anyone has mentioned yet is this: with his recent death, many people [who haven't been followers all along] have been reminded of his work by lengthy obits in newspapers and online, and are more likely to be looking for his films to share with friends and their own children.
This brings many 'non-constant fans' into the arena to find these films. |

Twilight Time confirmed yesterday on their Facebook page that there is a 2D viewing option for Man in the Dark. That's great news, and I'm definitely on board to order this and add it to my film noir collection.

Well there always is if you have a 3D player, I just hope they have enough sense to make it work on 2D players.

Changing subject, but, I received Jane Eyre in the mail yesterday and took it for a spin. I get the impression that, if this transfer had been taken from the original negative, then this could have been the best-looking Blu-ray in the world. As is, though, I thoroughly enjoyed my viewing. I'll put a couple of words together about it in the specific thread for the movie if I get time over lunch. Last edited by The Great Owl; 11-27-2013 at 03:11 PM. |

I also sent them an email the day of the last pre-orders, and got a response in less than an hour from Ed. Don't know if they are also that quick, though. |

The vintage 3D films that have been released so far (Dial M for Murder, House of Wax, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, et alia) have included both 3D and 2D versions. It would be very unlikely if the same wasn't true of this one.
