Not in the least. Despite its status as a Best Picture winner, I don't think it will ever sell out.

Some of the early Sony releases were priced a bit higher (Bell Book and Candle is one that I recall). Also Major Dundee was priced higher because it was a two-discer. However, since then all of the single releases are 29.95, although it's possible that future two-discers might be higher, possible the Thunderbirds movies.

Broderick Crawford doesn't have "star quality"? Well, maybe he's not the mass-appeal matinee idol, but still... ALL THE KING'S MEN may be a bit of a downer but is really a great film (with some beautiful black & white cinematography) but I also don't expect it will have a wide appeal outside us rabid classic film buffs, despite the fact that it WON THE OSCAR FOR BEST PICTURE that year(!!). Otherwise, Sony would have released it themselves, along with FROM HERE TO ETERNITY, which is actually not quite as good a film. Now if only they'd give Twilight Time or Criterion their seven 1930s and three 1940s Best Picture Oscar nominees not already on Blu-ray, two of which actually won.

Cimino handles the mood swings adeptly and even injects a subtle undercurrent of sexual ambiguity that never gets in the way of the entertainment. While his direction is bang on target - there’s a great use of mid-Western landscape too - it’s the strength of his script that keeps the film surprisingly fresh today. It’s basically a road movie crossed with a heist movie, but Cimino throws in so many unexpected and quirky left turns that catch you off guard that you never get the feeling that you’re going over the same old ground. This was a terrific movie in 1974, and if anything it's an even better one today. Just remember; never accept a lift from a man with a raccoon in the passenger seat and a trunk full of bunnies!

Wow! You make it sound great! I saw this film years ago and I had a feeling of indifference to it. I'll have to give it another chance soon but not a 35 dollar chance.

Crawford is one of those stars who seems to have gone out of style in recent years.

When I was a young man, Broderick Crawford's days as a star were already well behind him but he was still a household name. Every impressionist did a Broderick Crawford impression.

Unfortunately, he's all but forgotten by most people today.

But ALL THE KING'S MEN is truly a great film and deserves a sell-out.

Are you crazy? Photoplay used to breathlessly refer to him as 'Brod the Bod', and multiple showings of Butch Minds the Baby were disrupted by overwrought Bobbysoxers who would squeal with delight every time Brod lumbered onto the screen.

Fair enough, you may be right. I was just counting back 25 days from the release date which would have made it somewhere around the 12th.

I just pre-ordered my first 2 TT Titles. I've stayed away because their price point and ways of doing business don't really match up with the way other companies work but I guess I'll find out if it's worth the money!

with all of this discussion about all of the kings men (1949) I think I may have to revisit it I just hope the library has it or I'm out of luck

I would be willing to bet that the people who still remember Broderick Crawford remember him more for the TV series Highway Patrol than any of his movies.

I'm with you on All the King's Men. I'd be willing to bet that Sony's decision not to release it on Blu-ray themselves has more to do with its sales performance on DVD than anything else. That's probably true of most major studio catalog titles.

Pre-orders are the 19th. That is 100% sure. It is posted on their facebook page under the photos section. The pre-order date gets announced when they post the cover art. Click on the cover art and the comment page linked to it has the pre-order dates. It is that way every month.

I just watched The Other for my DVR and I'm really glad I didn't blind buy it.

I didn't really care for the story nor the fact that it seemed to jump around too much.
