columbia/Sony titles get the extra $5 tacked on.
The big heat is one of those. as far as when it will go on pre-order--no-one knows for sure right now, but I'm thinking between April 8th and 13th. that's my guess. ![]() Last edited by Arkadin; 04-04-2012 at 10:54 PM. |

I found the Mysterious Island magnet for $20 and the Fright Night magnet for $10 advertised on ebay. Frankly, the ads are a little misleading, as the Mysterious Island one has the picture of the BD case, and the Fright Night one has a picture of the magnet, but then provides full details of the blu-ray movie, with only a small heading saying "magnet only". I predict some inattentive people will be burned by these "magnet only" auctions. As for the AMAZON code, I contacted SAE a few weeks ago to ask regarding my glitch using the code during checkout, and they confirmed that the code was only ever meant specifically for Amazon.com-based orders. They obviously worked out that it was being used by everyone and removed it. |

Pre-ordered...for the last few months, just about all of my movie purchases have been catalog titles. Ordered four films from Olive last week, two Criterion, a bunch of region b WW II movies from the UK, three Rollin films from Kino Redemption. I'll wait for Black Friday for the new releases...with a couple of $100, I'll pick up the new stuff I want for cheap.

Twilight Time, Olive, and the studiios themselves are doing a pretty good job so far releasing quality films from decades past. Made an Olive order myself yesterday for The Mountain, and tonight picked up The Poseidon Adventure at Wal-mart. Can't wait to order Journey to the Center of the Earth and The Big Heat from TT. I think May is their best month yet. Last edited by oildude; 04-05-2012 at 04:38 AM. |

That cover art for The Big Heat just plain rocks!
![]() As much as I like, and have nostalgia for, the original art work for these films, Twilight Time keeps hitting home runs with their cover art updates. Bell, Book, and Candle, Bite the Bullet, and others - all are eye catching. They should make posters of these. |

This cover is more 'interpretive' though, and frankly, a kick up in the 'class' department. It speaks more reflectively from a modern perspective, recognizing The Big Heat's 60 year evolution from B genre programmer to certified classic...in other words, what it's come to mean to us. IMO, this hybrid modern/vintage feel is captured brilliantly. All classics should be so lucky. Last edited by ROclockCK; 04-05-2012 at 05:53 AM. |

I love the boxcover art and booklet cover art for both THE BIG HEAT and JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH. The original poster art is fun, too, but the one for THE BIG HEAT especially has the cheesy, trashy b-movie explotiation flavor aimed at 1950s male viewers, whereas the new one oozes stylish film noir for all lovers of noir atmosphere. Love that coffee pot and steamy title, too! Gorgeous art design! And the JTTCOTE art exudes an air of mystery and adventure quite more intriguing than the original posters that were great examples of the classic "schmeer" approach packed with images from different parts of the story, a poster style often used for epics and family matinee movies, promising tons of action but not much else.
Those are two movies I'll be pre-ordering as soon as they're available, and will order BELL BOOK & CANDLE and DESIREE at the same time, to save postage. |
