NOTLD90 deserves a new 4K transfer the most out of all the titles. People were furious when it released to the point of TT offering refunds for opened copies which is technically illegal. It caused a hurricane of rage on these message boards. They need to rectify Sony's error by offering a superior mastered in 4K release of the film limited to 5000 copies or more. This should of been done immediately after the first release which never happened. I bought the first release and will buy the second release if it gets the 4K treatment / correct color timing. Yes its annoying to have to do this but dealing with Ebay scalpers is even worse.

I'm not trying to defend the company against any and all criticism. What I'm saying is that if you get pissed off, you own that. You can choose not to be pissed off. It's actually pretty easy. All you have to do is tell yourself that it's not worth the aggravation to get hot and bothered just because TT wants to be coy about what titles they're relicensing. If you want to think they're being childish, OK, say they're being childish. But to get pissed off about it?

There are a metric butt-load of things in the world that are legitimately worth getting pissed about. This is piddly shït.

Yeah I don't see that happening. TT works with what they are given and I don't see anyone going back and scanning that movie into 4k and then doing correct color timing. Especially after that bs line from Tom about loving it. I think not only are we stuck with that blu, I think we are stuck that print from here on out.

I'm hoping for Fright Night and a re-mastered NOTLD as I missed out on those.

ET.

Personally, I think The Thing is a great movie and Carpenter's directing style really shined in that one.

Let's be honest for a moment.

I'm far from being a TT fan since being "Titus'd", but the only ones getting mad about the re-releases are the ones gouging people on Ebay for these limited edition copies.

For example,

Christine Blu-ray (opened) $199.99

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Christine-bl...item2ed3a5aca4

Another one. (Sealed) $149.99

http://www.ebay.com/itm/John-Carpent...item1c41fc898c

That's the "cut and dry" version.

That's not entirely true. I wouldn't say I'm "mad" about the re-releases, but it is, in a way, false advertising for TT to nudge a potential customer to purchase a product based on the fact that, if he/she didn't buy within a certain amount of time, the product would no longer be available (at least for 3 years, anyway). I'm happy for those who will now get an opportunity to obtain movies that they really wanted and thought they could no longer get, but it does sort of screw those who thought they were getting something special that turned out not to be so special after all.

I'm not buying these sales figures at all. Something fishy is going on if you ask me. No way that the most beloved romantic film of the 90's (Sleepless in Seattle) finally gets a HD release and can't sell 3000 copies.

Sleepless in Seatlle may be a good movie, but it's not worth $35 to many people. Combine that with the fact that most of its target demographic may not even be aware that it's available, and also the fact that it's available overseas for cheaper, and it's pretty easy to see how it hasn't sold out yet.

I can buy them. It is only available two ways normally, for $30 from SAE or $35 from TCM(not including shipping). That is more than most people would pay for another 90s rom-com, that didn't get an Oscar nomination for Best Picture or any acting part, even if they happened upon one of those two sites. Not available in any stores means online only for an update of a 1957 film(An Affair to Remember). The 20th Anniversary last year saw it come out in many countries, so finding it is not hard and cheaper($16.39) is not uncommon.

Hey oildude, maybe the OP can include this information about when (official) announcements tend to be made.

Not that anyone seems to read the OP...

A lot of these "great" 1990s movies, such as Sleepless in Seattle, As Good as It Gets, and Philadelphia, were all the buzz with the masses when they were released, but they do not have the same rabid niche fanbase that movies like Christine, The Blob, or the Harryhausen movies have.

I do not think that Sleepless in Seattle, As Good as It Gets, or Philadelphia are bad movies, but they probably need to age and ferment for a while, so that they can be as well-received as older movies like Born Yesterday, Picnic, or Bell, Book and Candle. Philadelphia, in particular, was quite a tear-jerker when I saw it back in the 1990s, but my pulse is somehow not quickened by the idea of paying $34, including shipping, to own the movie right now. It's just...it's just...too soon. These 1990s dramas and rom-coms simply do not have the mystique that older films along the same genre lines have.

Right ... I was very on the fence about buying SiS. I picked it up a few months ago mostly because SAE/TT offered it for $20 (along with a few others) ... but also because I thought there was a possibility that it might sell out eventually. I'm not sure I would have pulled the trigger without the sale.

Speaking of being on the fence, I was the same way with Wild at Heart. I finally caved in last Thursday when there were only 11 copies left. It's one of those I had told myself I didn't need. But you know how that goes when you see it dancing in front of your face long enough (in the way of constant updates in the forums). I was surprised to see the last 50 copies lasting as long as they did. I finally thought there was a possibility I would regret not buying it, so pulled the trigger. So anyway ... I ordered it on Thursday ... it's already being delivered today. Fastest turnaround yet for me (with SAE).

Yup, I bought the first 3 movies you mentioned (Owl), for the same reasons as I posted above with SiS.

Yeah, I believe there was a relatively recent post citing a Facebook posting of theirs that said there were between 500 and 700 copies left.

I'm just glad not to have to go to eBay for a disk that should be back on the shelf anyway.
Who said it was permanent? You guys do in order to get angry about a reissue, except everyone knew their license was for three years only. At that point if they didn't re license it some other company may have.

So the teeth gnashing over this is more "haters gonna hate." As someone else stated you guys make this an art form. A one note art form, but still... You'll ignore the reality if the situation in order to dump on them again. BORING.

Except that's absolutely bogus for the reason I stated above: are they re releasing these inside their 3 year window? No. So you really are making something out of nothing.
