Probably didn't study as much as I should have for a day off but at least I watched a video for class and read an entire chapter. Gotta make up for it tomorrow because here comes another 40+ hour work week to crush my ability to do schoolwork M-F.

Just spent the last two to three hours separating all the music videos from my Madonna "Celebration" and "Immaculate Collection" DVD rips by chapter, deleting redundant videos and naming them all. They were three long videos (DVDs) before. I'm pretty pleased. Comparing them directly, I found that the Celebration masters, released in 2009, are louder than the 1990 Immaculate Collection masters. In a bad way, for loudness wars is a thing. The 2009 masters also have more video compression artifacts, since they put three and a half hours plus new 5.1 AC3 tracks on two DVDs, while the Immaculate Collection is only an hour long. I'll just stick with the PCM tracks. The only Celebration video I kept that was already on the Immaculate Collection was Express Yourself. I appreciate the new sound on that one.

Meant to take about a 30 minute nap earlier due to being a bit more tired than usual. Ended up being about an hour. Did more studying after dinner, going to bed now, going to finish studying for writing for the web module 2 tomorrow after work!

Ordered another Madonna music video DVD, "93:99," which covers her videos from 1993 to 1999. I expect it to make several more of my Celebration (2009) videos redundant, meaning the older duplicates will probably look and sound better again. It has a few I've never seen before. I could watch them on YouTube, but screw YT compression.

I've also now created a folder of music videos from my Prince discs, although there are only 23 videos between the Purple Rain BD and The Hits Collection (DVD).

I wish I could do the same thing with Michael Jackson and Janet, but those discs won't rip as functioning MKVs, only as VOB files (which keeps the DVD structure/menus). And I've thought about doing it with my Beastie Boys Criterion discs, but those apparently have some kind of DVD "angle" feature I haven't explored, that lets you see different cuts of the videos or something.
