I was stationed in Germany 1984-87 and I did vacation in Austria while there,
So many beautiful places...

Even went to Berchtesgaden Germany, and up to the Eagles Nest

That's awesome. I think the Eagles Nest is still there but his retreat in the Alps was razed I believe. I will admit that I don't readily remember what Berchtesgaden is, meaning if it's a region or a town. But I do know that the most driving I did in the German Alps was the first day I actually spent in Austria. I stayed in this town of Patsch just like 10 minutes south of Innsbruck and my first day there I went back and forth over the border several times. I know we've talked a bit about our trips and now you got me wanting to talk more about them but I'll shut up before I get started

Amazing pics! You had much better weather than me The day I moved on from Salzburg to Vienna, it started to clear up. That day was a bit of a blunder as I had meant to drive to Bruck, Austria to drive on the Grossglcockner Alpine Highway but I set the wrong Bruck in the GPS and I went way out of my way and never made it there lol

Nice pics. I used to live in Traunreut which is near Chiemsee and about 40 miles from Berchtesgaden. Beautiful place (Berchtesgaden that is) and only 16 miles from Salzburg.

Funny enough we never went often to Austria even though it was so close, though we did drive through Austria quite a bit on our way to Italy and back.

My Uncle and Aunt with my cousins were stationed in Germany in the early 90s but I don't remember where since I was little but I found a picture book of Germany and always wanted to visit.

Anyway coffee and youtube to start off with. I hope to get some writing today.

Been to Giessen a few times but I don't think I was ever in Darmstadt. We did go to Frankfurt quite often.

My dad worked in the Nuernberg and Fürth Military Community, and in Bamberg. Those were good times. So sad when they all closed down.

I stayed two nights in Nuremberg and visited Bamberg. I had never heard of Bamberg until watching the movie Valkyrie as I believe that's where Colonel Stauffenberg sent his wife and kids.

Along with all the other things I've done and places I visited while in Germany .

I also visited Dachau Concentration Camp, right off it's was as though I could see the people interned there walking around,
and the building were all still standing, etc...
In my body I could feel this weight ( very hard to explain )...

And I was at the 1986 Munich Oktoberfest, I still have my mug ( pictured below )
