Crazy that California charges that kind of money for car registration if that’s what he was referring to. In PA, we’re at around $40 annually now along with another $40 for inspection. You also need emissions as well in certain counties which can add another $30.

Conan is definitely worth revisiting.

I live in PA as well, but I know California has all kinds of extra fees. They even have a Smog Inspection/Certification needed. Here is a list of most of them I believe:

California car registration fees are based on:

Your type of vehicle
The vehicle’s purchase price
The county/city you live in
The county/city your business is in
The date your vehicle entered California or the date you purchased the vehicle
Special license plates
Declared gross vehicle weight/number of axles your car has

If you have a toll evasion bail or unpaid parking violation

Additionally, you may incur extra fees if your vehicle is registered for on-highway use. Some of the fees include:

Vehicle license fee
Registration fee
California Highway Patrol
Country/district fee
Transportation improvement fee

I dunno how it is in California but its probably property tax on top of registration. I'm originally from NY, I was paying ~$80 every 2 years for my registration + $21 for a safety/emissions inspection annually. Never had to pay property tax on my vehicles, sales tax when I buy them yes but that's a one and done expense. Moved to KY and now I'm paying a little over $200/yr. Same 10yr old truck, it's ridiculous and came to a shock to me.

Yes sf and Mike, the registration is my car renewal. Having bought the car a little over a year ago, this was my first renewal. It had been 19 years since I bought a new car. Coincidentally, the last new car I purchased was a '05 Mazda6 in 2004 from the same dealer that I got the '22 Mazda3 from.
Looking to get a cheap scooter to putt around on to. I know I've mentioned this before but I would prefer a fun ORV as a toy but a scooter might be more practical since I don't have a truck or trailer to haul an ORV in.

Oh yeah, and off work and at Taco Bell where I had two bean burritos and one of their breakfast burritos. Next I'll head to Target and look for an umbrella and then pop into Best Buy and browse.

I only had about a 10 second dream of her before I woke up but it was nice and I woke up wishing it was real

Watched He's Just Not That Into You tonight for the first time in years. I love that film. I had forgotten who all was in it. Justin Long was the only person I could really remember.
