BTW...I still can't believe they took out King Cobra. I know it's been awhile but that was a staple for them FOR YEARS. Did they ever open Son of Beast back up?
Son of Beast is still closed. It's funny you mentioned the King Cobra. I was talking to my daughter about it that day. I was telling her how much fun it was because you were standing up instead of sitting. My favorite is probably still the Vortex, but Diamondback is pretty close. The biggest mistake the park made was changing the backwards Racer to forward-only. I didn't realize it, but back in the day, they turned one of the coasters on the Racer backwards for a short-term promo. It was such a hit that they kept it that way for years until they sold the park to new owners a couple of years ago. The new owners wanted it changed back because all of their other parks didn't have a backwards Racer. IMHO, they should have changed the other parks and left our Racer alone. It's still fun, but not as fun as the "backwards Racer"

Yeah I just saw that it's not owned by Paramount anymore. I guess that why the one coaster isn't "Top Gun" related anymore.

That's crazy about Son of Beast. That thing was a big deal when it opened. Didn't it close the same year? I love the Vortex. The Beast is great too although it'll knock the crap out of you. I still have a soft spot for the little Adventure Express...LOL. As far as the Racer...that sucks.

You all ever go during Halloween? Last time I went was like 02 I think.

EDIT: Just read that Son of Beast was closed in 06. Then closed again.

I'm not sure if the Son of Beast will ever re-open. I guess they got too many complaints from injured people. The Beast is ok, but I agree that it knocks the crap out of you. We took the kids to Hallowfest one year, but that was just to trick-or-treat.

Yeah, all of the Paramount themed rides had to be renamed. The park's theme now is Peanuts/ Planet Snoopy. I don't mind, because I was a big Peanuts fan growing up. I'm suprised that my kids like it, because they don't really know them that well. They've seen the holiday specials a few times, but that's it.

Wondering why mmgirl changed her name to Fenris...

I'm guessing it has to do with the Wolf and her love for animals... maybe???

Haha, no. I hated the name mmgirl, I just could not think of a good username. When Dragon Age 2 came out Fenris quickly became my favorite character. But I do animals!

Just got done eating lunch. A friend & I ( he works here too ) went to Detroit's Coney Island here in Lexington. I've had it before ( just their burger. ).

They supposedly have the Guinness Book record for the largest fish sandwich in the world. They even have a certificate on the wall.

I got it...it was good. But I looked em up & there's no record of that "achievement" on Guinness' site. I call shenanigans.

Congrats on it finally arriving. We need pics.

BTW, I am eating Alaskan King Crab legs for lunch.

My local grocer had them for $6.99 a pound last month. I just freeze them and use them when I am hungry. 350 in the oven for about 12 minutes does it right. Half a stick of butter in the microwave for 5 minutes on 20% power and you are golden!!!

If I lived in a house it wouldn't be so bad, but I'm on the 4th Floor, so I have to ride the elevators. I should be done in a couple of hours. I have a total of 10 loads.......

Not normally this big, but I'm doing everything, including all my winter sweaters and stuff.....that alone was 4 loads.

It could be worse.....what if there wasn't an elevator and you had to take the stairs?

Thanks. I'm pleased as punch. I did take pics, but the site was misbehaving and would not load the pics, but I'll post them in a few minutes. I'll apologize in advance for the crappy quality, I was tired when I took them. I love crab! I prefer snow crab legs myself. I just had a turkey bacon club with extra onions from Arby's.

Thanks. The kids slept right through it. It was a little scary but unusual for it to be so close. I mean there have been shootings and guns discharged within a few blocks of my house, but this is the closest it has ever been in the 13 years I have lived here. Most of what we get in front of my house are speeders or drunks being pulled over.

There has been no new information other than the shooter is believed to have known the victim. Some talk is that is was drug related.
I see
I was at some apartments on Gstreet. How close was I to you?

Kids can sleep through anything. Quite amazing. Except on days when mom & dad get to sleep in, then they're up at 6am. Have you found out any more info on the what/why of it all?
