The new trend ... Yes Penton, even Top Gun: Maverick.

https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/...netflix-apple/

The HDR movie business is not anymore what it used to be, and that is a fact.
...No Time To Die (MGM), Top Gun 2 (Paramount).

* I highly recommend 'Mank' on Netflix, directed by David Fincher.
If you like 'Citizen Kane' (B&W), 'Mank' is an excellent supplement...food for the Hollywood movie knowledge. ...MGM, WB ...

Tenet got lucky.

Undoubtedly, given its box office value, even if it means, yet again, pushing back the release of Top Gun: Maverick, it will still debut theatrically (on the BIG screen, as the creator conceived that being its preferred form of exhibition because of the aerial cinematography involved)….following which there may well be some lag before people can view it in HDR at home on their more modest-sized displays vis-ŕ-vis streaming.

Nevertheless, the question remains, how long will that lag time be before it is streamed. Hopefully, for Top Gun fans wary of the virus and therefore too skittish to go to a movie theater while we are in the transition phase of being relatively safe but not entirely risk-free with regards to prolonged indoor public gatherings, hopefully, the theatrical exclusivity window will be shorter and digital sell-through happening sooner than in the pre-COVID era.

I agree; Maverick was made to be seen on a big large screen.
And short of being a scientist expert I have less than zero clue when and if.

as to the asterik,
wife says although prophylactic use of Vitamin D has yet to be proven with certainty to translate into effectiveness in fighting COVID-19, folks may find comfort in this recent paper in Mayo Clinic Proceedings - https://secure.jbs.elsevierhealth.co...sent?code=null and indeed, no harm in you guys addressing adequate Vit D consumption as long as one doesn’t over consume….while waiting one’s turn to be vaccinated.

Bob, if the link doesn't go thru, then try googling Vitamin D status is associated with in hospital mortality and mechanical ventilation Mayo Clinic Proceedings.

That’s strange Wabs. When I click on the posted link works for me without difficulty in accessing the short in flight video.

Wasn't cryptic at all Wabs. Simply a video illustrating how popular Top Gun is with real fighter pilots and not only regular folk. Regardless, here’s a link for you which should work on any 3rd world device. What’s faster, cheaper, and easier to produce than a Kris Deering fave F/A-18F, but without the cameras?

Answer –

Penton, I did extensive research on Vitamin D.
In winter time most people are deficient of the sun, so vitamin D is an excellent supplement. The dose I take daily (each morning) is 1,000IU, but I could increase it twice (2,000IU) and it would be just fine. ...Vitamin D3

I have read several scientific papers and I talked to few people connoisseurs on the matter.
In France they take 2,000 IU dose daily, in the morning.

And many people are deficient of that important vitamin.
And, it won't hurt during a pandemic with such a nasty virus like the COVID-19.
That and wearing a mask is excellent advice...your wife she's a pro, no doubt.

Hang in there; there's lot to talk about this year about HDR and a bunch of other important stuff for the benefit of the Blu-ray community. And, give a chance to 'Mank' when an opportunity open up in time. If you like great filmmaking in HDR Black & White, this is your ticket. Then re-watch 'Citizen Kane' for a second dose of history filmmaking...two great supplements, just like vitamin D3

* David Fincher, the guy who directed Fight Club, Seven, Zodiac, The Social Network, Gone Girl, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Game, Panic Room, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, Alien3, Mank, World War Z 2

Well, I…we (along with my better life-saving half) tend to get more natural Vitamin D than I would suspect many others with us living in SoCal with me, like regular folk, simply enjoying a nice view while holding an occasional, as Wabs would say (when he was more affable back in the day) ‘bang-a-bonk’ -
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post17068464

and not envying engineers in the post house regularly calibrating for drift and such; however, over the past several months I do admit to having developed Snoop’s philosophy with regards to boring online techno chatter and silo mentality -

But I will try to hang in there.

follow-up from 10/12/2020 (a week or so before it was publicly announced and debuted on Good Morning America (GMA) - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...r#post18184560

not really exclusive Insider-ish news as above ^ , but for the record and somewhat under the radar is the fact that the mix for Raya and the Last Dragon just wrapped at Skywalker Sound in preparation for its worldwide release theatrically and on Disney+ for March 5th

Makes sense to me when considering the type of consumer who is willing to buy a UHD player in the first place, in addition to there still being no new players on the horizon from the major brands to entice those who already own UHD players.

Yeah, when people can just stream stuff thru their tellyboxes or some stick thingy they don't need an expensive new player to put these old-fashioned 5" discs into. The article makes mention of the millions of consoles that've been shipped, yes, but it makes the important point that the vast majority of people using those consoles will be using them for gaming, not movie watching from UHD disc. There will be some overlap and I never said there wouldn't be, but they won't be the saviour of UHD disc. That time has passed.

Still, the hardware sales have held quite steady over the last two years according to that, and without new standalone players to stimulate the market as you say then it's bound to stagnate.

I receive my first dose of the Moderna vaccine on Saturday. The reaction to the first dose was like a flu shot with a sore arm. The second dose is scheduled in four weeks and from what I have read the reaction will be much worse.

I still prefer discs, but you can’t hold back the tide. Question is, will the momentum be maintained or will ‘streaming fatigue’ set in? - https://variety.com/2021/digital/new...ng-1234890534/
hoping the mo is maintained, at least for Netflix (being a shareholder) as Daddy needs a new pair of mountain bike shoes
