Hey, Ray. Are you going with Dynamic or Standard for the Picture setting under Tools for the K8500? I switched to RBG enhanced and found the Lions Gate and WB titles looked much better(especially Ender's Game), but I also switched over to Dynamic since the colors still looked too muted or different under Standard.

Ok, Yesterday played Sicario on my Samsung UN65HU8700 with the k8500 4k player and as previous people have mentioned they received a message stating "This content will be played in HD because the display or the HDMI input port does not support HDCP 2.0. Change the display or HDMI input and try again". I did turn on the UHD HDMI color on the tv and turned on RGB enhanced on the k8500. The message still appeared in the beginning of playback. So am I seeing this in 4k or is it just HD? Don't know if sicario is a film I should compare to. I do have The Martian being delivered today. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have the sek3500 upgrade box? If you dont, only 1 of your ports has hdcp, and I forget which one. |

I did a bunch of testing last night. Usually prefer the more vibrant colors of uhd hdmi color off on the tv, uhd color on tones them down a tad but rgb enhanced brings most of the color back but not all. |

So right now I've got: On the Samsung 65JS9500: UHD Color On On the Samsung K8500: Deep Color Off RGB Enhanced Dynamic Picture Mode I'll play around with the rest of the titles and see how they look with these settings. Plus I need to sample some Blu-rays and find out if those suffer at all or if they still retain their usual appearance(plus 4K upscaling of course). |

Yep, the added pop is like what you get using dynamic contrast. It also improves textures. It helps widen that gap between these versions and 1080p blu ray. Alot more life to the image. |

I still have some issues with the colors on Expendables 3 even in Dynamic mode, but it does look much better with the updated settings. I imagine Exodus will too(I'll test it tonight). That UHD transfer is very dark compared to the Blu-ray. |

I'll do my own experimenting whenever I get to buy the hardware, but so far I find it funny that "Deep color" should be off according to most people. It seems kind of anti-intuitive, considering what this format is about. Is there any informed explanation for that? Or maybe I'm misunderstanding that setting.

Some got a new Samsung SUHD 2015 model firmware update (these updates are made available in waves) and that solved the UHD Color issue with banding... so now you want it left ON. |

Since it seems you don't have a receiver hooked in line between your 4K player to your TV, just try to move your HDMI cable from your 4K player to different ports on the TV and try enabling BD Wise in the "Settings" box located on the lower right of your opening screen on the 4K player. See if that makes that dreaded message go away when you boot up a disk. |
