The player cannot decode Dolby Atmos and DTS:X

I used to think they were stupid and never listened to them then i tried listening to one just for the hell of it and really enjoyed it. But i love behind the scenes and making of featurettes and stuff too so it appeals to me since they usually talk about that stuff on the commentary. I didn't know about the atmos and dts decoding incapabilities. Thanks.

Dont get me wrong, I enjot the Behind The Scenes and Making of, but the commentaries to me seem annoying because they are too long and drawn out

Different strokes i guess. Some of them are terrible i have stopped listening to or fallen asleep trying to listen but for example i enjoyed the Ridley Scott one for Prometheus. Also the Ben Affleck one for The Town was good too.

Got this unit yesterday, so far very impressed with it. Extremely fast power-up and movie start times. A change from my over-the-years collection of Sony BD units......

Calling this "just a BD player" is not telling the whole story...

It does that and so much more. I certainly use my K8500 for apps more than my ROku 4.

Depends entirely on the commentary. Some are great, some are horrible.

The one for Forgetting Sarah Marshall is great when they have Bill Hader impersonate celebrities that happen to have dropped by the recording studio.

I can say that this player, while weight is very small, it's durable as a brick. This thing was dropped from almost four feet, TWICE. Shattering one corner, and it coming almost completely apart (shell wise). It's still playing like it was brand new.

What button in the remote do you press to display the resolution of the disc you are playing (DVD vs blu vs 4K)? Thanks! Have been very satisfied with this layer so far!

That's why you pay $8 for a replacement remote. I haven't touched the included remote since I picked up A new large Samsung remote off ebay. It has the same buttons and more as the included K8500 remote. Large buttons, numerical keypad, dedicated FF/REW buttons. It's much better than the included remote. Especially since I don't accidentally hit other buttons any more.

Here is the link to the ebay sale I got mine from. They have sold over eight hundred of these remotes. Mine arrived in a few days after ordering.

Although it looks like they don't have many left now. I think a lot of people with the K8500 picked up one of these larger remotes. And the price is now $7.45. It was $8 when I ordered mine in early May.

Does this remote have a home button or a way to access "tools " to change the picture mode?

Anyone in the UK looking to upgrade then Samsung are running a cashback deal when you purchase a qualifying UHDTV and AV equipment. That includes the UBD-K8500.

Depending on the TV you buy you could get up to £300 cashback which would make this player essentially cost £129. Now it may not be the best player around but at that price it is £470 cheaper than the panasonic and it comes with a copy of the martian.
