The Epson 5040 is $2,999 (MSRP) and has true 10 bit processing, upgraded lens, and 100% P3 reproduction. They're slowly getting there. |

A projector and big screen do sound cool, not sure how practical for my room tho. After 70" display I can't go smaller so the latest and greatest 75"+ display would probably be more expensive than an equivalent projector no?

If you want to go big screen then Home Theater projectors are better suited for the job...I just wouldnt waste my money on a 4K projector right now, but that's me

My Sony is a HD 1080 projector. But my observation was that no matter what resolution I select on the Samsung player the UHD disc will play in 1080 (obviously) on the projector. So what's the point of resolution setting on the player? Ultimate it comes down to the projector or TV resolution.

Test colour calibration on your the projector. More accurate. It's important of max. resolution screen for best picture. For example, 1920x1080p = 2 million 4K 3840x2160p = almost 9 million Pixels ![]() Last edited by Opips3; 08-25-2016 at 12:42 PM. |

I would set at Auto cause it will automatically choose the highest resolution your TV/projector supports. So with your OLED it should choose 2160, and with your projector it should choose 1080.

The issue is that my TV can upscale, the projector does not. So if I keep player on Auto I let the player do the upscaling whether I am using the TV or the projector

Of course with your current setup maybe you have no reason to play bluray on your OLED so the point is moot. For me, I choose either 2160 or 1080 resolution on player depending on disc |

-------------------------------------------------------------------- It's new from when they added support for 444 chroma with 4K60p video. You have to enable the new feature by switching to HDMI 4K mode 1. The default is mode 2 and will not output 444. I suppose they made it optional to avoid possible incompatibility issues. |
