I'm not sure if I should post this in the TV, AV receiver or 4k blu-ray player section. I have a Samsung k8500 blu-ray player, LG OLED b7 TV and an older denon receiver that doesn't do HDR passthrough. I have connect the the main hdmi port on the blu-ray player to the TV and the second hdmi port to my receiver. When both are plugged in, I only get a PCM sound coming from the receiver. I set up the movie player to bitstream uncompressed to the Receiver, but dolby true hd and DTS HD isn't coming through. When I unplug the hdmi to the tv, I get a black screen but the Dolby True HD sound comes through. Once I plug it in back to the TV, it goes back to PCM.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? |

Method 2: When you are using a receiver that does not support HDR passthrough: 1. Run HDMI 1 directly to an appropriate port on your television. Run HDMI 2 to your receiver. Set HDMI audio output to HDMI 2. 2. Set audio to Bitstream Unprocessed if your receiver decodes lossless audio codecs Dolby TrueHD, DTS Master Audio. Set audio to PCM if your receiver does not decode Lossless audio codecs. http://www.avsforum.com/forum/149-bl...-s-thread.html |

I had a similar problem. It took awhile playing around, but I needed to push the receiver remote button to use the HDMI from the player as opposed to the cable from the TV. I think mine was getting the audio feed via TV.

-system settings: -HDMI setting: - control for HDMI set to "off" - then HDMI audio output set to "HDMI 2" I don't know if yours has similar settings. |

If it works, unfortunately you may not be able to use CEC if that's your preference. At the very least, I would guess you should be able to use it on the player and TV while having it off on the AVR. I'm able to run it like that, but I currently have it all disabled. Last edited by red_5ive; 04-06-2018 at 11:32 PM. |

What model Denon? If I recall, I think it's called "HDMI Control" on the Denon. In my case, disabling it in my preamp is what fixed it for me. I can turn on CEC on the TV and K8500 and it works fine as long as it's off in my preamp. If your AVR doesn't have it then I'm not sure what it is. The symptoms just seemed close to the issues I had so I thought I'd throw it out there.

This LG OLED does not play well with my receiver. I originally had everything running through my receiver and then one HDMI to tv. The problem with that was I would get random times where the tv would just go black and I would have to change the inputs on the receiver back and forth for the picture to come back. Called LG and of course they said it’s a problem with my receiver even though I tried a second receiver and the same thing would Happen. I also have a PS4 pro, TiVo box, and Apple TV hooked up to this tv. So when I couldn’t fix this, I decided to connect all sources to the tv and an optical cord to my receiver for sound. But I still want hd sound from my receiver for the blu-Ray player so that’s why I’m trying this action of hooking it to the tv for picture and receiver for sound. Somehow the tv sound setting seems to be overriding the receiver when the movie player is plugged into both the tv and receiver. On the Blu-ray player it’s set for Sound to come out of HDMI 2 and it works pefctly as long it’s also not plugged into the tv at the same time. |

Try a regular BD. Then try it with upconversion from the player off (output 1080p) Have you tried different cables in case of some handshaking issue? (my best guess) Try different HDMI inputs on TV? (shouldn't matter) toggle deep color on/off on TV HDMI inputs? (shouldn't matter) Is the firmware updated on the receiver (grasping for straws) Hardware wise: what you have should be fine. ![]() |

Is the PCM downsampling setting set to OFF?
Try the Auto setting under audio output instead HDMI 2, see if that does anything Double check that HDMI 1 is going to TV and HDMI 2 is going to recevier Is cable from player to receiver high speed? That's all I can think of, I turned off the CEC on the player cause it was messing with my recevier |

So I have found out on AVS Forum from some other people that this is affecting them too and its because of a firmware update with the Blu-ray player. So I guess I just have to wait for them to fix it. Thank you everyone for their help.

New Firmware 1015 I found on my update yesterday. Not sure what it fixes but I found one disk it fixed that been annoying me.
The Martian Extended cut at one of the Hermes space shot about an hour in (forgotten the time frame) it froze and it had to rewind and now with the new firmware it would now play all through without any freezing or rewinding at any point. Would be nice if Samsung actually list what it fixes for once but that will never happen it seems. Last edited by stargazeruk; 04-24-2018 at 07:50 AM. |

Sorry if this was already posted here, but I am not able to search this thread.
I bought two of these players, but from Costco, which has different model number, but basically it is the same player. Both my players don't play burned BD-R disks. I can play disk on my old JVC and LG players, but not on Samsung. Did Samsung do this on purpose? |

I wonder if 1015 is going to be the last update for this player. I just installed it and now the software upgrade button in the menu is grayed out and says function not available. Even still I've had this player since launch day and it's still going strong as ever.
