Update 1010 is available on Samsung's website. No release-notes detailing what has changed. (Feb 20, 2017 date)

Under "downloads" on the UBD-K8500 Support Page:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/ow...ayer-ubd-k8500

Direct download link:

http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co...-HAWKAVWWC.zip

When you do a system update check from the player itself, it still sees 1009 as the latest version.

Did you install it? Any noticeable changes?

I installed it from USB but have not noticed anything yet. The good news is that everything is still working so nothing broke from what I can tell. But as far as any enhancements, I can't tell yet. I really wished they would have posted release notes with the update.

I had lipsync issues with 1009, about to pop in some discs and see if I still notice any.

I was hoping and update would address some motion blur / choppyness I'm experiencing around the outline of a moving object against a stationary background, but that issue is still there. Arg. I really start to dislike this player.

I haven't experienced that with this player.

Meh. I'm sure we've all had access to HDR on Netflix through other devices for a while now.

Well, that is true but it is nice to have nonetheless.

I wish more devices would enable HDR in Youtube.

It would be nice but unfortunately it just isn't possible. YouTube HDR requires hardware VP9 profile 2 that most of these older devices doesn't support.

So the new new firmware allows for HDR through the player?

I can get Netflix HDR through my OLED 65B6 but only with Dolby Digital sound. Going through the UBD-K8500 will give me Dolby Digital+ which to my ears is a big upgrade.

Your Oled can give you Dolby Vision only. Not HDR

DV should be 12 bit...HDR is 10 bit

Dolby Vision is capable of 12 bit color but currently there are no 12 bit TV panels so it is 10 bit.

Does anyone else's player make really loud noises when playing certain uhd's?
Played ghostbusters tonight and it was REALLY loud.

I just remembered that this player streams Netflix at native 24p, which most other devices do not. So it should be nice watching content in 4K HDR at native 24p.
