Just get a diff remote that's what most here did, there's a link buried somewhere in this thread. Remote aside, well and no info screen, the player is solid especially if you paid some stupid cheap price like what's out there now.

The remote is a joke

Okay I'm using my old Samsung bluray remote. Still can't enter a specific timecode when pausing and arrowing down it only lets me move the timeline bar and won't let me move to an exact frame which I have always done for still frame shots and screen grabs.

This should work:

Quote:
Using the Settings Menu During Playback
During playback or in pause mode, press the TOOLS button.
Use the buttons to select the and then press the OK button.

Search

Search Time Bar : Select to play the movie from a selected time point.

Ah, I'm using a universal remote and arrow buttons and numbers are all options to do this. Sorry.

First time post, need a little info if possible.

Just purchased this player although it hasn't arrived yet, I also have a Denon AVR-X2300 Amp and a Samsung KU6000 UHD TV.

At the moment my current Blu-ray player and PS4 go from the devices into the amp and then the amp goes to hdmi3 ARC on the TV. All is good.

What I was wondering is on this TV only HDMI port 1 is 4k so the player goes directly into the TV, how do I get sound through the amp.

Thanks.

The Sammy has two HDMI outputs, the second intended for audio only. The simplest thing may be to run HDMI1 to the TV and HDMI2 to the receiver.

It really is a PITA and shouldn't be this difficult. Using the Tools menu on my old Samsung BD player I could just goto a specific timecode while paused and it would access the frame I told it to goto while paused and I could grab a nice screenshot at the exact frame I wanted. Why they took away this simple functionality is infuriating.

FYI - Fry's Electronics has the K8500 on their website for $169.00, although you have to add to cart and go to checkout to see the price. I ordered one today for in-store pick-up and got it all hooked up tonight... err, well, I haven't gone to bed yet so tonight is actually yesterday (June 6 ) as I've been up tinkering/watching different stuff on the player.

The product page says it's good until June 7 at 9pm (PT), or while supplies last of course.

That came in the last update (1010.) So yes, 1011 has Netflix HDR too.

Maybe 1011 is for YouTube HDR?

Taking this POS back to BB. Can't access the time indexes of any of my multimedia files. This player has been nothing but aggrevation for a week. I'll get the LG instead.

I saw Costco has this first generation Samsung 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player for only $199. Most likely the 4th quarter 2017 Christmas season will see a price of around $99.99 for this player to clear out the inventory.
