Blade Runner 1982 and Planet Earth 2 should be among your first purchases. Cars 3, Despicable Me 1 & 2 (the latter two are Dolby Vision encoded, though you will get the HDR10 layer instead since your player and TV don't support it) are must buys for animation.

I've been very happy with this player, other than a random hiccup a couple times where it kinda froze on me. Had to change the remote battery a month or two ago, other than that it's been smooth sailing. My old Samsung BD player was a nightmare so I kinda gambled buying this one, but it's been fine.

I have a question and I would appreciate any help that you can offer. I have a Philips POS9002 and hdmi ports 1 and 2 are hdcp 2.2 compliant. This is my set-up:
- K8500 connected directly to the TV via a premium certified hdmi cable. - Separate connection to the soundbar via audio input on the player. - Both TV and the player are running the latest firmwares. Intermittently, though not always, I get the following error message that truly grinds my gears: "displayed in hd only because the hdmi port is not hdcp compliant. Switch screen or inputs". I know for a fact that both hdmi ports 1 and 2 on the TV are hdcp compliant and I am having no issues whatsoever with my Xbox One S. Can anyone help me rectify this issue? |

I have an Apple TV 4K connected via a 3 foot Monoprice Premium Certified Cables ($7 for 3ft) to a Denon x2300W receiver and from there with a 6 foot cable to my LG OLED B6. The Apple TV is configured for 4K SDR @60@4:4:4. Deep Color is enabled on the LG. I have ZERO issues with video. BUT ... When I switch the Apple TV to 4K HDR10 @ 4:2:2 @(60, 30 or 24) ... I get very visible color banding. Could this be the cable? Incidentally 4K HDR10@4:2:0 @60 works fine. Sadly, Apple TV 4K does not do 4:2:0 at 30 and 24 (it only does 4:2:2). Furthermore, zero issues with 4K DolbyVision. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

1013.2 is available to download via the unit only
I checked samsungs UBD-K8500 bluray player to see if there is an update and... nope (1012.1). I have just watched a film and the player at the end as I took the disc out it announces there is an update and its now 1013.2 again would be good to know what the update does |

I've had this for almost two years and over the last week it its just been shutting off on its own. I turn it back on, and within a minute it shuts back off. I reset it, and tried to download 1013 update and it would't let me, so I did a hard reset. Presto, the update was available. I downloaded it hoping that was the problem and within 30 minutes of playing a movie it shut off again. Same thing. I suspect it may be a hardware issue, but has anyone else had this problem?

Well we have had our K8500 for awhile now and it has played every disc I have thrown at it without an issue. Still wondering what the new firmware update was for. Samsung like Sony dont give hardly any info on their updates so it leaves me wondering. Hate when they do that.

I noticed after doing the update there was a change to the 24p setting, now there is a disc and a streaming option to choose whereas before it was just disc I believe

Currently on Samsung Live chat, and they have no clue even though it's been reported on their support forums.
They got me to Unplug everything, plug it all back in and turn it on.. This was their awesome response when it didn't fix it; Quote:
