I dropped by one of their locations on Saturday. They had a demo running with the Samsung UHD player and THE MARTIAN UHD-BR, but neither item was on hand for purchase at the location. The decks apparently "sold like hotcakes."

... and from what I saw, THE MARTIAN looked freaking great.

The future for M-GO is uncertain. Fandango bought it. Perhaps movie tickets with your UHD HDR Vidity downloads.

http://variety.com/2016/digital/news...or-1201692324/

I assume that when you get your K8500 you will attempt a Vidity download to a WD Cinema Passport through the USB port on the player and compare playback through the player and directly through your JS9500 display.
That would also determine if the K8500 is Vidity compatible. Of course I am also assuming that the K8500 is on the M-GO device list by then.

Well, I'm glad they're selling like hotcakes!

I suppose in today's "me first" consumer culture, I can finally stand to wait for once, another few days, for mine to come in from Rob. I feel like I keep repeating this to myself because usually I'm all instant-gratificationy.

I would like to see a demo though. Tomorrow when I pass by to buy Spectre, I'll check this out.

I am thinking of canceling and placing my order with Best Buy.

that is ridiculous.

April?? Guess it wouldn't have been a big deal to wait for Philips' player...

I contacted them two days ago and they said they didn't have a release date for me. But upped the shipping speed

Lol. The Philips was supposed to be able to support Dolby Vision.

Last I knew, Amazon said my next order would be delivered around March 11th. They didn't say which order, but since the Samsung is my only order left now, it's safe to say that's what they were referring to. I'm not sure where they came up with that date tho...

If my Best Buy movie orders don't ship this week, then I will pick up at least 1 UHD movie in store (assuming they are available this week).

Can't have a player and no UHD disc to play with for too long.

I already have like 8 of the mgo movies, I will attempt to play them but I won't be buying any more mgo movies. It's uhd disc from here on out.

Technically, Amazon is already shipping their earliest pre-orders, same as best buy.

If you are asking about internal storage for movies, it has none. At one time, the industry was considering internal storage to support the digital bridge, now known as Copy/Export. They decided to go with external storage only. The K8500 supports USB HDD (WD Cinema Passport for example) and thumb drives. The WD Cinema Passport is a Vidity enabled device used to download UHD/HDR movies from M-GO. Last time I checked, they had around 14 UHD HDR movies available for download.

Best Buy ships things based on how far you are from the nearest distribution center. My player probably won't ship til tomorrow but I'll still get it on Wednesday.
Just so you know after I posted this I found your posts in another thread; thanks for the information! I'm going to be popping into BB later this week and check the 3D section to see if they put the movies out or not, would be lovely to get a movie before March 1st so I can put the player through the paces.

Earliest orders?
If they are shipping why do they not have,a release date on them?
Cant imagine Jan 8th wasnt an early of enough order date.
Lot of smoke and mirrors with amazon regarding this player.

Are you buying UHD BRs of movies you have downloaded from M-GO?

If so, the comparison will be interesting.

But there's people saying they are ordinary from Best buy today and receiving shipping notices of this week.

Yep. I've got the martian and Scorch Trials 2 on order that I also own on mgo so I'll be comparing for sure!

Side note, its a little disappointing to see sony not offer "after earth" on disc, because between the hdr and true 4k resolution it was amazing looking, top 3 in my list for visuals of all the hdr movies.

Probably cause they're already sold out and have to wait for the second shipment, which is already sold out lol
