Received one of these yesterday but wasn't home until too late to do anything. Had an hour this morning but had to rearrange things to fit it in so only played around for 15 mins. My tv (wired through power line adapters or wireless) barely give me enough speed for 4k stuff from Amazon or Netflix and when it does it's unreliable. Testing this through the browser with speedof.me I get almost double the tv speeds (again, wired through power line adapters, not tested wireless)
Not sure what speed the Fire TV gave me, but could never get 4k through wireless and wired would seem to disconnect every time I tried to watch something.

Can't wait to try actual discs. Have several ordered from Amazon and Fox (but no shipping notice yet )

I think there's an On/Off option in the player's menu, per an earlier post.

For those that un-boxed it already,

Is it packed well?

Mine will be traveling 3,000 miles.

Default I haven't had a chance to set up the player yet

I will be doing that and putting up a review this coming weekend if not sooner, with school and work coming up I'll have to find time. But I will .

All I've done so far is unbox the device to take a look so here are my initial thoughts. The look of the player is slick, I like the curved look myself. The weight of the device actually feels pretty solid; I read another review on AVS and the guy stated he thought it was rather light for $400. For me the weight is solid and premium and feels well-built.

I was impressed even with the packaging; I bought a basic Samsung blu ray player last year and I remember there wasn't much to box at all; this has the product protected in syrofoam with a box for the cord and remote. I know this isn't important, but I guess I was surprised how well this was packaged, I am appreciative of that kind of stuff. Almost reminded me of apple product packaging.

So far, the only thing is the remote. I've heard a lot of people talking about how small and light this thing is and initially holding it yeah, this feels grossly underwhelming for a $400 product. I remember typically first gen products would bring a larger remote and the fact that this is so tiny really is a surprise. I suppose they want it to be as simple as possible to use but from what I'm hearing from people actually using the remote the ease of use is anything but. When I actually use the device I will have more on this, but I think a different remote may be in order....

That's all I have for now. I have no movies yet, and I decided to cancel my Foxconnect order of The Martian. I have not heard a peep from them and I suspect I won't be getting the movie before next week when Best Buy will have them in stock. After hearing other people in AVS get their Fox connect movies I remain baffled as to why they haven't shipped them out en masse. Another website, The Digital Bits, actually HEARD from 20th Century Fox and Fox stated the official release date for those movies IS INDEED this Sunday February 14th. You'd think Foxconnect would ship them out ASAP with the date change? Not sure what's going on there.

The only movie I want is the Martian for sure, but I am also considering Kingsman as well, we'll see. Until next time!

Yes I think so. It also came in a cardboard box, but the syrofoam inside seems to protect the unit very well, sturdy and snug. It should not be an issue.

One could hope, but I doubt it. Even if someone flubbed and did, there may be a system block on it until the 14th.

Had something similar happen to me when I tried to buy Resident Evil Retribution 3D from walmart at 12:10am release day. It was on the shelf and I tried to buy it, but corporate hadn't remove the block in the system and the register declined to sell it. After some *****ing (because they had a big f-ing sign right next to it saying it was available after midnight) I just went down the road a got it at Meijer.

Mine came from BB and they just slapped the shipping label on the Sammy box. I'm just glad no one stole it off my doorstep.

I'm not sure how to phrase this question, so any of you more tech minded people might need to translate this for me if it's not clear enough.

My question is, does anyone know if this player has the RGB full/limited option like the PS3 does? I just want to know if I have to mess with the black levels on my TV to match up with the player.

If I saw a Blu-ray player retail box on your doorstep I would probably assume it was something else in the box being shipped by a relative or eBay seller.

Short of stopping to read the shipping label to see who sent it...

Just received my player at work. I hope to pair it up with my 65JU7500 tv tonight if I have some time. Looking forward to seeing it in action, even though there won't be any UHD titles to get until Sunday.

I've been asking those same questions on AVS, no-one can give me an answer it seems. (And AVS is killing my internet allowance with all those embedded video ads so I'm not going back on there to check!)

Someone else recieved the martian from foxconnect this mornng.

It is also being said that if u paired your movies up and 1 of them isn't out yet, the shipment will be delayed until all items are shipped together. Someone pointed out that this is in the fine print on foxconnect. So if u preordered peanuts, none of your movies will come until March 8th.

Has someone played a DVD on the player yet? Theoretically there should be an improvement going from SD to UHD compared to HD. Is there any visible difference?

Well, given that you're on here, if you saw it I'd assume you'd have noticed the player released that day.
