Well sure me but I don't think we live in the same neighborhood and I doubt you live in a neighborhood made up of BR/UHD enthusiast criminals

My player should arrive soon, so I'll come back and update if no one answers before then.

480i/576i to 2160p has the same problem but the UHD grid is smaller so the number of pixels which have to represent two or four SD pixels is lower.

My question is, does anyone know if this player has the RGB full/limited option like the PS3 does? I just want to know if I have to mess with the black levels on my TV to match up with the player.

It does have an HDMI color format option with four choices - auto, ycbcr444, rgb standard, and rgb enhanced -

So that's exactly the same as current players, less even because there's no 4:2:2 like on my Panny (or even 4:2:0 which HDMI can now pass as part of the HDMI 2.0 spec). Boy, I wasn't wrong about these players being an evolution of existing tech - hell, the set-up options don't seem to have changed a jot. I see there's Deep Color below it (which is bit depth, basically) but is there anything about colour space or HDR selection? Anything at all?

I just let my player upscale the DVD to 1080p and the TV does the rest. I've tried feeding my 4K set 480/576 directly, if anything it looked slightly worse going from SD straight to UHD, the aliasing stood out a touch more.

[edit] IMO there's just too much guesswork involved in creating 8294400 pixels out of 345600/414270 directly, whereas having the player do the 1080p conversion first removes some of that strain and just leaves the MUCH easier HD to UHD upscale (as you say, it's directly proportional so the maths takes care of itself).

And some folks be saying that the UHD upconversion on the Sammy isn't as good as it is in their TVs anyway. It seems like I'd have to keep changing between 2160p and 1080p all the time when playing discs so I'd do what others have said: keep the Sammy for UHD playback only and use my regular BD player for everything HD and below.

Can someone please post a pic of the remote? Maybe side by side compared to a bluray case.

Did anyone figure out how to turn your blurays into data files and store them on am external hard drive through the player? I was told that was a feature...

That's what I'm gonna do. The Sammy will be for UHD discs only and for the occasional streaming (Youtube 4K clips looked great!). I'll use my Oppo 95 for everything else. The remote on the Sammy really sucks (looks like a remote you'd find in a $50 player, WTF?) and besides the Oppo gives me more flexibility with subs and displays bit rate info, etc. Was hoping the Samsung would show bit rate but oh well.

If anyone has a samsung tv from 2015 with the tiny remote with wii like function it's the same size with no "wii" function and no backlight. Go get a harmony remote. It's well worth it. Works great with the old samsung bluray player model #

I kind of assumed it would be similar to the remote of my JS8500.

But hey, who doesn't have a Harmony or a similar alternative nowadays?

I didn't see any options for HDR and whatnot but I'll dig through the menus again and edit this post, or post a new one if I missed something.

It's around the same thickness as a regular BD case but shorter (pic's a little blurry) -

I dont think there is anything where you can turn HDR "off", but I wonder if you can choose between Rec 2020 and Rec 709?

It was on the shelf and I tried to buy it, but corporate hadn't remove the block in the system and the register declined to sell it. After some *****ing (because they had a big f-ing sign right next to it saying it was available after midnight) I just went down the road a got it at Meijer.

Mine came from BB and they just slapped the shipping label on the Sammy box. I'm just glad no one stole it off my doorstep.
Interesting. My BestBuy order came double boxed. The outside box was a little big, and there were air pillows inside.

It is also being said that if u paired your movies up and 1 of them isn't out yet, the shipment will be delayed until all items are shipped together. Someone pointed out that this is in the fine print on foxconnect. So if u preordered peanuts, none of your movies will come until March 8th.
That was one of my theories as well, since I ordered Peanuts from them.

Oh well it's Martian I want the most (haven't even seen the film yet) which I have from Best Buy. Now the million dollar question is will they have some available to sell today in store.

I will take the cheap remote versus getting some pointless other remote that may feel a little better in my hand if it is going to save me a few hundred dollars like the first generation blu ray players were.

For $400, generation 1 player? I will not complain.
