I also have a standard BD player hooked up to my system so I can A/B this new 4K UHD with my old 2006 copy.

After watching about half hour of different scenes I have to say I'm in love with this disc. It must be the most film-like and at the same time natural looking picture I've ever seen - it almost feels like there was no color grading done at all, that's how realistic it looks. HDR fans beware - it won't be your demo disc to blind family and friends, it's also feels darker than regular BD, but there's definitely better contrast on UHD.

I watched a good part of Unforgiven on Ultra HD last night and I agree, the blacks and contrast are flat out beautiful! I am very much looking forward to tossing the 06' BD tonight for comparison. I am gonna do my best to sync the 4K disc and BD so I can flip back and forth. I'd take some pictures but I have never really been too good at taking screenshots.

It took me awhile to figure that out because I got home last night with my copy of Unforgiven and Best Buy had refunded my Paypal account $2.14, I couldn't figure out what happened until I finally looked at my order at BestBuy.com and I saw the $17.99.

I watched my copy of Unforgiven again tonight and was blown away, again. As you say, the night scenes are startlingly beautiful. Better yet, this film is in the conversation for being the best western ever made. "I don't deserve this." Brrr!

I mean, Sony released both the UHD and regular BD versions of the 4K-restored versions of Steven Spielberg's CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND. Why can't Warner do the same for UNFORGIVEN?

Just get it on UHD. It is much better.

Warner said they were going to this year but doesn’t look like it now. If you do plan on upgrading eventually pick up the UHD. You won’t regret it.

I thought id take a few pictures the top one is from the 06' BD and the 4K is the picture below.
I should have taken a few more pics but I was unsure of the results. I can't say these do the 4K any justice but I can clearly see a nice jump in quality.

Edit: Since this worked ~reasonably well I will take a few more pictures tonight.

FYI Amazon is now shipping with Slipcovers, they updated their store pic to have one with Slipcover, I chatted and got a replacement movie. Happy overall now. I even got the Man of Steel as well as Pacific Rim in slipcovers, which I was not expecting. The only recent one I didn't get with slipcover was Watchmen.

Those two recently remastered BDs didn't impress me much after seeing the UHD BD version.

Well, now I'm glad my Best Buy didn't mark it down to $17.99 a few weeks back, causing me to pass on it. Even though it wasn't announced as one of the Black Friday titles, BB now has it for $15, so my order is in the system.

I never ordered anything from Amazon with the hope of getting slipcover especially after the item that I'm interested in has been released

Unless if I pre-ordered it, the chance of getting slipcover is 99%
