These aren't exactly new releases ... they're simply slipcovers redesigned. I was hoping that these would be new artwork and new remasters.

Yeah, I doubt they will have digital copies as stated, too.

If the DVD of the Waterworld that is included have the extended cut version that blu-ray is missing, then I will definitely pick up that combo set.

I have mixed feelings about the packages with DVDs and DCs. I originally supported the idea because it gave people who hadn't yet made the jump to BD hardware a way to start buying into the format. That's largely less necessary now that you can buy a BD player for $80. I realize there are people with multiple players and that they still have some DVD players and/or they want to watch on their smartphone or iPad or whatever. But for me personally, at this point I would prefer the packages without the DVDs and DCs, especially if there's any incremental cost.

IMO, rather than this seemingly scattered approach, in addition to what they were going to release anyway, Universal should have taken their "best" 100 films that haven't yet been released on BD and released them spread through the year in deluxe packaging. "100 films for 100 years" or some similar marketing. Release 2-3 a week and you'd have something really nice.

yep me too. Yeah they aren't exactly new releases and as mentioned in previous post, some will come repackaged with slip covers, and with dvd and digital copies.

It a good thing there is only one movie from the list that I am slightly interested in that I don't own on blu-ray yet, and another which I own on blu-ray but do not have the dvd and digital copies of. Man, I'm such a sucker for dvds and digital copies that come packaged with blu-rays.

It's announced for BD release by Studio Canal in the UK on March 19th. However, it will probably be Region B locked.

Out of Africa Blu-ray

The Deer Hunter Blu-ray

Meet the Parents Blu-ray

The Nutty Professor Blu-ray

Parenthood Blu-ray

Harvey Blu-ray

Found Posted on thedigitalbits.com:

First, Universal has set Out of Africa for Universal 100th Anniversary Collector's Series Blu-ray/DVD combo release on 3/6. We've asked the studio whether this is a new transfer or just a re-issue of the existing version, and HAVE CONFIRMED that this is a newly-remastered version that should be far superior to the existing disc. Here's hoping they revisit Kubrick's Spartacus soon as well. Speaking of catalog BDs, the studio has also set The Deer Hunter, The Nutty Professor, Parenthood and Harvey (1950) for Universal 100th Anniversary Blu-ray release on 3/6 as well. And for you vintage TV DVD fans, Night Gallery: Season Three is finally due on DVD only on 4/10.

On the digitalbits.com today Bill mentions that Out Of Africa will also be part of the 100th celebration and will be produced *from a new master* that should look vastly better than the current (embarrassing) BD.

I was planning on blind buying the one that has been released to add to my best picture award winners collection but guess I will wait now.

I know of the ones being release in January and now some of the ones being released in March, and I'm wondering what other titles Universal is planning to release or re-release.

I saw on Amazon that the DVD of Schindler's List is being re-released on dvd on 1/10/12 as part of Universal's 100 but why couldn't they plan beforehand to release it on blu-ray instead. Could this be a sign that we may see it on blu-ray this year. Even though I have never seen it I am still looking forward to watching this for the first time on blu-ray.
